I don't know who's going to take the Conn Smythe, but the Mule is the Wings heart and soul of the playoffs. This guy is the most clutch performer I have seen on the Red Wings in a long time. The Wings get everything out of this guy. Defense, Offense, Power Play, Penalty Kill, you name it. He skates, hits, scores, goes to the net, you name it. I don't know where this guy came from, but I'm glad he plays for us. He's a freak!

The Mule is anything BUT soft. This guy is an absolute FREAK. He's not a huge hitter and probably can't fight, but this guy isn't going to stop scoring. He's like the terminator of scoring. He just won't stop until the other teams are all DEAD.

We all love the Mule, but he is a sniper in a power forwards body, the dude is soft, but damn does he have great hands and a nasty shot.

A body which he uses, and uses effectively. He's not going to throw down anytime soon, but he's far from being a pure sniper a la Brett Hull.

As for the topic: the Wings' MVP right now is Ozzie.

Hossa is exactly a sniper in a power forward body. Nothing to compare with Franzen. When he gets the puck, he never shoots. He immediatly skates to the net and try to make something happen.

When Mule feels like it, he just crash the net, rips off the defensemen and always find a way to score !

He's like a bulldozer

The guy is not a hitter... he's a ripper

+1 Playoff MVP

But Osgood is still in the race, best playoffs in his career so far IMHO

When Franzen has the puck i get excited. Just another gem Detroit has found in there scouts. I think its between Ozzie , and Franzen. My vote would be Ozzie tho, just to get back at all the "Ozzie haters".

Meh. Franzen has been ridiculous on some nights, and has been absent on others. Hes been good all around, but this team has won in the playoffs with different folks stepping up from night to night.

In terms of forwards, I'd give Cleary, Franzen, and Zetterberg about the same amount of votes for the Conne Smythe. Franzen is scoring the most and scores big goals, but Hank and Cleary have been better defensively. Cleary also scores big goals too, but not as many. Zetterberg has been the best defensively among our forwards (hello 5 on 3 PKs) and has quietly been producing, yet hasn't scored many big goals. Any way you slice it, all 3 of those guys, in my eyes, have their pros and cons (pardon the pun).

If you want to look at it in terms of consistency, then I think you'd have to go with Osgood for the Smythe right now. Hes had ONE bad game - #4 against Columbus - and there was speculation that he was injured. But other than that, there isn't a player on this team that can match him in terms of consistency and high-level performance. The dude has been on his game 95% of the time, whereas even Nicklas Fricking Lidstrom has been inconsistent.
