Ms_Hockey 0 Report post Posted May 27, 2009 The more I watch the Pens, the more I'm convinced that they're a two-man show. If you shut down Malkin, Crosby, or both.. they have nothing. Fleury can hold them in if he's having a good day.. otherwise, they're done.
Tr!PoD#19 524 Report post Posted May 27, 2009 I do not remember Steve Yzerman touching the Campbell Trophy in either '98 or '02. I know he did in 1997. Nick didn't touch it last year. Could have sworn he touched it all three years he won it. Research time, I'll be back.

Konnan511 1,736 Report post Posted May 27, 2009 (edited) Found this tidbit onanswers.yahoo.com: Yzerman and the wings had a big celebration in '95 when they won the Campbell Bowl over Chicago... they then went on to get swept by Jersey in the finals. After that, everytime the Wings won the Western Conference (97,98 and 02) Yzerman would go out, get his picture taken holding it and then set it down without skating with it. I'm sure it'd been done before Yzerman and the wings in '97, but that is where my memory of the superstition begins. Edited May 27, 2009 by Konnan511

YoungGuns1340 1 Report post Posted May 27, 2009 Regardless of the weak east, the canes choking, or whatever else, the pens have been playing great. Congrats to them. I didn't watch any of the games - I can't stomach the Pens - but you have to give them props. While Carolina wasn't the toughest competitor, they were still a solid team that the Pens killed. With the way the Wings decide to play when they feel like it, the Pens could easily grab that and run.

Pasha13 0 Report post Posted May 27, 2009 Well according to Versus, Pitt has the two best hockey players in the world, and regardless of who comes out of the west...both teams "have gotta be shaking in their boots right now."

Booster313 138 Report post Posted May 27, 2009 I think the Pens will be tougher than last year, they will be even more motivated to get their revenge on The Red Wings and the evil Mr. Hossa. That being said we'll still beat them probably in 6 again.
Yak19 303 Report post Posted May 27, 2009 The defenses they faced = laughable, you could put together 6 of the best d-men from Phili, Washington and Carolina and it would pale in comparison to the Wings D and the Ducks D for that matter.
Shaman 713 Report post Posted May 27, 2009 Oh noes Jordan Staal is a good defensive player, with his -1 in a series where his team didnt lose 1 game
