Shaman 713 Report post Posted May 30, 2009 but Big E is in, thats the only person i think anyone of us really thought was on the fence today, seems dats is more likely game 2 or 3, draper is unknown.
chrisdetroit 189 Report post Posted May 30, 2009 Last year game 1 no Hossa, no Mule. Final Score Det 4 Pens 0 We'll be ok. Quote of the playoffs: "You can see it in his [Hossa's] eyes. I saw it in the last couple of games. How great did he play?" Cleary said. "He's focused, you can see that will and determination in him. Hoss is going to prove the Pens fans that it was the right decision...
BowHuntingFool 0 Report post Posted May 30, 2009 Yeah kinda expecting that, the rest of the team will be there, no worries! We got this!
Theophany 110 Report post Posted May 30, 2009 To be quite frank, we got it done versus a better team in the last round without Dats. We got it done without his scoring prowess against two teams that were better than the Pens are. As long as we have Lidstrom and Ericsson on the blue line, we'll be alright. Lovin Jiri Fischer 147 Report post Posted May 30, 2009 (edited) In 08 no Datsyuk would have meant series over. This year, as much as we love Datsyuk, we have the depth to work around this. And very off-topic but I find it funny that they misspelled "Bret" Lebda at the end of the article. I know we all make mistakes but isn't NHL.com supposed to be professional? Konnan511 1,736 Report post Posted May 30, 2009 We got Lidstrom back. Without Datsyuk this mean Zetterberg is going to see Crosby every shift and Malking every other shift. Put Filppula's line against Malkin's line.

GMRwings1983 8,794 Report post Posted May 30, 2009 Datsyuk is our best defensive forward so we're definitely going to miss his puck pressure and takeaways. It's bad enough to lose a series, but if you do lose, you at least want all your guns in the lineup. Why can't their best forward also get injured? We just can't catch a break with this injury s***. Cern 0 Report post Posted May 30, 2009 Why can't their best forward also get injured? We just can't catch a break with this injury s***. That could change should Stuart make Crosby eat plexiglass again...
henrik40 76 Report post Posted May 30, 2009 I anticipated not having Dats. Even though he hasn't produced the big numbers, his backchecking and defense are phenomenal and he commands 2 players watching him with the puck. Since we have lids and big E back, I believe we will be okay.
Louisville 112 Report post Posted May 30, 2009 Why can't their best forward also get injured? We just can't catch a break with this injury s***. We just can't catch a break with this scheduling s*** either. Back to back games and only two days off after a five game series. A one day break between cities. C'mmmmmmmon NHL, your breakin' my balls here....
kozac 10 Report post Posted May 30, 2009 Now do you believe me that Datsyuk's foot is broken and has been for a while?
Snazzy 0 Report post Posted May 30, 2009 I'm SO glad our other guys have pick it up. HELM = BEAST FLIP = SHUT DOWN ZETTY = MVP OSGOOD = SOLID HOSSA = MAN ON A MISSION CLEARY = CLUTCH FRANZ = MULE MADNESS KRONWALL = LIGHTS OUT STUART = SHUT DOWN RALFI = DETERMINATION LIDSTROM = NORRIS NIK BIG RIG = ROCK SOLID LEBDA = TORPEDO (aka Bowman's Torpedo Systemâ„¢) ABBY = FREIGHT TRAIN HOLMER = DEMOLITION MAN SAMMY = FIREPOWER Though it'd be awesome to have Datsyuk back, it just make sense to rest him when we have such dominating players. Cern 0 Report post Posted May 30, 2009 Now do you believe me that Datsyuk's foot is broken and has been for a while? X-Rays have already confirmed it isn't broken. MY guess is that it's something like a bone bruise.
Grim 5 Report post Posted May 30, 2009 This affirms our big fears... No way does dats sit out this first game unless he is *significantly* hurt. How much could he possibly improve before Sunday's Game 2?? If anything, he shouldve been slotted for Game 1 and sat out Game 2 if it simply was a conditioning issue. This all probably means Dats is out for the rest of the Playoffs. What is the deal with all the secrecy over this?? Was this all done to satiate the bookies??? If we can beat Hawks without him, we should certainly be able to beat the Pens, they are really not that good compared to the last two teams we sent packing. XxGoWingsxX 0 Report post Posted May 30, 2009 Dats has skated. Hes been quoted as saying he has trouble turning and stopping...he may be ok to go for tonight but the babs maybe wants to see how game 1 goes before throwing him out there like that. If we can handle the pens w/o aggrivating his injury then another days rest can't hurt. He will be back in this series, bet on it.
XxGoWingsxX 0 Report post Posted May 30, 2009 and yes draper bein out is huge....prob the best faceoff man in the league is Desperately needed for the PK
Snazzy 0 Report post Posted May 30, 2009 is it really a big deal that draper is out? Face offs. Defensive forward. Speed. Penalty killer. We are better with him, that's for sure. Can we win without him? Hell yeah. Hawks are a better team than Penguins, and we beat them without Lids, Drapes, Ericsson, Dats, Lilja... So we will have no problems taking Pitts. If we can beat Hawks without him, we should certainly be able to beat the Pens, they are really not that good compared to the last two teams we sent packing. Ahead of ourselves?? these are the Cup Finals... exactly whats left?? Our Bear-huntin headcoach shouldve entered Game 1 full bore *if possible*... and rested player(s) in Game 2 if these Pens were indeed pushovers. As a diehard Wings' fan I'll support the team no matter what... but I guess what I don't understand is the need for all this media-spindoctoring regarding our injuries. Will the Pens vastly change their game plan if Datsyuk is playing??
