Wings Winning Because of our Goaltending

Hasek never had to make this many saves for us against Carolina in the Finals in 2002.

no s***...can we please put Hasek to bed. He was great against the Avs one year and helped us win a cup, but seriously....he was never our savior.

I know, that's not what I was implying. I was simply talking about stuff like the save that he made when the puck ended up on his back. Hasek always flopped around and made incredible saves doing so. Osgood is much more structured goalie than Hasek, but in the last few games Ozzie has been making some unorthodox saves. That's why I compared him to Hasek

Totally. Anyone who contests that Osgood has been playing lights out is in major denial. He's a lock and if he's snubbed I will be ******* livid! He's earned it and deserves to be recognized for his outstanding work this post season.

You know that's going to a Pen regardless.

Ozzie's been great. He did look a little lucky from time to time but luck favors the prepared.

Be careful saying that. Puckloo may be around to read it. :D

Hasek was actually a savior since Ozzie left after 2001. However, he only had to make key saves at certain moments.

This year is the first I can remember where a goalie is bailing us out like this. That's why I started this thread. It wasn't just to talk about how great Ozzie has been, but also how odd it is to see us constantly relying on our goaltending.

With that said, the defense needs to cut him some slack. He has to be tired after seeing so much rubber this last week, from 2 different teams no less.

Osgood natural progression: Win 4th Stanley Cup, Become all time Wings career winningest goaltender regular season, play two more seasons, possibly 1 or 2 more Cups, retire #5 all time winnigest goaltender EVER, get number retired by Wings, get voted into Hall of Fame. PERIOD!

LOL....

You post this as if it's some kind of revelation. What DO YOU think he's playing for?

He's playing for his legacy. He's playing for his place in NHL History. And yes.....

He's playing for his spot in the Hall.

Go GET 'em, Oz!!!! Lock it ALL down in one tremendous run!

LET'S GO RED WINGS!!!!

He doesn't need to get to #5 to be voted in to the hall. His number will hang from the rafters once he's done and he will be in the hall of fame.

Let's give some credit to the teams the Wings are playing. Chicago was playing for its lives with a dynamite offense revolving aroudn two of the speediest and best U-23 forwards in the conference, that lit the hell out of some Roberto Luongo guy last round. And the group these Wings are playing right now happen to have two of the top three scorers in the league this year. I'm also not sure Lidstrom is at 80 per cent this round, which is a big blow to the D. He just doesn't seem as fast in his skating or decisions, although his positioning is always good.

But yeah, full credit to Oz for bringing this team up and not letting them miss a beat.

I've been thinking, Ozzie reinvents himself...same season, puts up the best numbers of his career. He had a shakey regular season, but openly admitted that he wasn't ready, and didn't want to be. He was still enjoying being a champion. Since his break, he's been a totally diffrent goalie. With the exception of letting in 7 against nashville (thatnks to our D playing worse than PeeWee's) I believe, he was light years better.

Now look at him, putting up an other elite performance. Ozzie was a stand up goalie through and through, but now he has an quite a unique style. It's not quite hybrid, but not quite stand-up. I think that's whats been the 180 in his game.

Anyhoo, 2 more games, and I strongly believe that what we see is what we are going to get for the remainder of the season, weather it be 2 games or 5. Con Smythe for sure.

its nice having a goalie that doesn't make me nervous when the opposing team enters the zone *cough*Joseph*cough*

aaaaaahahaahahahah! OMG.. what a joke Curtis Joseph was. It was bad enough that he was highly over rated, but then to sign him to unconscionable amounts of money, and have to watch him be as mediocre as he was, was absolute torture for me. I had never felt so let down by my team and I'm talking about the same team that signed the likes of Brett Hull and Derian Hatcher. I grew to like Pat Verbeek and absolutely love Cheli but Joseph was a glancing blow and brutal.

I dont know Osgood personally, but, I think he is playing for a much simpler reason. He is playing to help his team win the game. Plain and simple.

As cheesy as that may sound.

Wings are Winning Because Pens Keep Hitting Posts

...and not capitalizing on Ozzie's frequent turnovers and big rebounds. He makes some big saves, I agree... but geez oh petes.

You sure are something else.

Ozzie has been real key for those two wins. The Wings will get their day off and re-energize for Game 3. With less turnovers and a solid Ozzie in net, look out.

LOL You sound like Babs. :P

Ozzie has been magical since Game 1 vs the BJs. He flipped his switch and has been playing lights out since.

I wish.

But seriously, whenever he talks, I feel like a sponge. If you know how to look for it then you'd see that he has a ton of wisdom. He was an education major in college but with the way he talks now it's as if philosophy is more his thing.
