wingfan13 44 Report post Posted June 7, 2009 A few friends and I are thinking about heading to Pittsburg for Tuesdays game. We are going to try to get tickets but if we dont, does anyone know about the big screen they setup outside ? Can anyone just walk up and watch ? Most importantly, is there a beer tent or can you bring your own beer ? Any other ideas as to where we could go watch the game ?

Jasper84 333 Report post Posted June 7, 2009 There is a screen outside, but the difference is that joe vison costs money, the outdoor broadcast is free. Didnt NBC deny rights to setup a screen outside the Joe for us yesterday as well? That would have been free as well. I don't see how they can allow it in Pitts and not here in Detroit for us yesterday.

toledojames 0 Report post Posted June 7, 2009 I went to pittsburgh for game 6 last year knowing i would be sitting outside on the lawn watching the big screen. Didn't think too much of it other than I wanted to be in pittsburgh when the wings won. Other than the Wings winning, it was one of the worst experiences ive ever had. I still have a small scar under my eye from being hit with something. My fiance, her cousin and I werent taunting their fans or anything of that nature. We ended up sitting in the middle of around 3,000 pens fans with 3 other wings fans. it was horrible. from the moment we walked up we were getting harassed. Throughout the game wether we scored or they did the taunts were endless. At times you almost felt like your life was in danger, seriously. People threw all types of things at us. Gatorade bottles, empty and full. Pennies nickels dimes... Boxes of crackers? After we won and the lawn was filing out someone threw a lawn chair. I had my black practice jersey ruined from getting something thrown at me which stained the white part. People tried fighting us constantly once the game was over. In the end we won and that's what mattered to me. We remained classy wings fans while hundreds of pens fans showed their true colors. I'd say go even if your sitting on the lawn, it's an experience i'll never forget and I really do think we'll win in pittsburgh again. Oh and the only thing i remember saying back to the pens fans, after nonstop ozzie bashing i said something along the lines of "how many cups does he have, he'll probably win another tonight, and your goalies name means flower." after that last part no one said anything. kinda funny.... if your going, enjoy and be careful. and dont sit in the middle, youll be surrounded and too far from the police if you need them haha
Flintstone Cicarelli 0 Report post Posted June 7, 2009 The Pens have shown the games outside during the playoffs; with the exception of games shown on NBC. NBC has denied the Pengiums permission to broadcast the games outside. There is an effort afoot to try and convince NBC to allow the broadcast, but I doubt they will. I'm not usre why you would expect it to be a love fest. B. Come to my local bar and watch. You'll get razzed, but there will be no hostility. C. You claim to not have trash talked seems to be proven false by your example of your own trash talking. D. I wouldn't base my perception of a teams fans on the actions of the group of fans that sits in a huddled mass outside an event watching the even while guzzling booze. E. Be thankful you were in Pittsburgh and Not Philadelphia

Be thankful you were in Pittsburgh and Not Philadelphia Believe it or not I did expect it to be quite intense, just not hostile. Dont remember saying i thought id be walking into a lovefest. Didnt trash talk, i made a true statement about the meaning of a last name, not in a taunting manner whatsoever. I havent based my perception of pens fans on that group at game 6 last year. I said hundreds of pens fans showed their true colors. Thats exactly what happened. I didnt say every single pittsburgh penguins fan showed me true colors....just hundreds of them. Not all of them were intoxicated either.

Oh, so you were an innocent guy, almost child-like, sharing with a buch of hostile fans a tidbit about the foreign laguages. How in the world could they not see that as anything but a kind gesture, one fan to another? Here you are helping them broaden their horizons and become more wordly citizens and they thank you with gatorade bottles and an unknown white staining substance. The nerve. Yeah I have a question, WHY, for the love of God and all that is holy, would you want to go to that s***hole?? Better yet, why would you want to go to that s***hole when their legion of bandwagon fans start to imitate their loser captain and their punk-ass best player? I lived in PA for nearly 12 full years. It's not worth your time and neither is being around the Pens fans.
