Two Winter Classics in 2010?

I don't see how it would work... How is Conklin going to be in two places at once? :P

Boston game starts at 12 pm EST.

Wrapped up by 3 pm EST (barring OT).

Ty's trade gets finalized during the 3rd period or right as the game ends.

Hit the airport by 4 pm.

4 hr non-stop private charter flight to Calgary. Ty gains 2 hours during the flight, going from EST to MST.

It's 6 or so at the airport, so Ty has to slip the cabbie some extra Loonies to haul ass to the rink.

He arrives just in time to start in his 4th consecutive WC (and his second one that day) at 7:05 pm MST!!

HAHAHAHAHA

DUMB! Make it the Montreal/Boston matchup LIKE IT SHOULD BE and save Ovechkin for 2011's game....How about NYR and Washington?

I'm not sure how a Washington/Boston matchup makes sense....that isn't a historic rivalry like Habs/Bruins is. Plus you get a combined interest from both CBC and NBC viewers...no need for two classics.

The Habs don't want to be the visiting team again. They want their own outdoor game.

Where would they put it? I can't think of any decent-sized stadiums in the entire province. The Alouettes play at an inky-dinky little set of glorified bleachers, and Olympic Stadium no longer opens up.

I agree with his points, but I'm curious as to what they have to do with Union-related issues? His points are basically what we've been saying, it's watering down the event and causing broadcasting issues.

From TSN:

''This is all news to me. We are breaking news, this is an insider moment that Calgary is potentially going to get an outdoor game and this is the first I've heard of it,'' Glenn Healy, the NHLPA's director of player affairs told TSN.

Apparently, it has to do with the Collective Agreement between the Players and the League; that calls for only one "Winter Classic" per season.

''We have never been approached by the league about a second outdoor game ever in Calgary and if they want to approach us, then our numbers are in the book.''

Healy adds, the players aren't opposed to Calgary and admits the idea may have some appeal, however his issue is purely with the lack of communication between the NHL and the NHLPA.

If the matter is brought to a vote next Thursday it will require seven of 10 votes to pass through the competition committee.

No kidding; these are a "cash cow" for all.

Olympic Stadium. The Big O needs a new roof (you know, so it can collapse, too) and the management of the stadium has said they can put it off for a little while to coincide with a Habs outdoor game.
