Why are pens fans mad?

Rate this topic

Recommended Posts

This thread certainly has gone downhill fast.

Do Pens fans need a reason to hate us? Maybe it's left over from last year, who knows.

I mean, if you look at St. Louis fans, we never really did anything to them (except be significantly better than them...all the time) and they despise us. To the point where you actually wonder if they have some sort of mental damage.

Personally, I like it when other fans hate the Wings. It makes me feel that much better when we destroy their teams.

I'm as pissed as Snazzy abou the result of the Finals. I can't help but think something was in the works regarding Game 3, the rescinded suspension, the BS intereference on Ericsson in the 3rd, etc. Wings played through a lot on the ice, but many things that occurred off the ice, as well. There should not have been a Game 6 or 7, but there were and the Wings played identical games for the identical scores and results. Pens won, big deal. I don't think Pitt realizes the responsibility night in and night out of being the defending champs. I don't expect much from the Pens next year. They may make the playoffs, but their are hungrier teams in the East and the Pens can't fill the holes the have with the quality they want.

I look for a first round exit for the Pens if they are lower than a 4 seed and a second if they are 4th. I do not see them winning their division.

Hopefully, this loss lit a fire under the Wings. They get their off-season rest and begin the march for another Cup. Watch how they play in Oct and Nov. I have firmly believed this is when you dictate your readiness and qualify for the playoffs. Wings need to rattle off 16-20 wins in those 2 months. In the Central, I still don't think Chi is ready to compete with Detroit, nor any other team for that matter.

I hate the Pens because they are shoved down our throat by the NHL, VS, NBC (McGuire wears kneepads with #87 and #71).

Go Wings!

Lidstrom hoists the Cup in June 2010 and calls it a career.

I think we can safely say the pens will make the playoffs next year. They might flounder a bit during the regular season but when the playoff rolls around and the opponent is someone like the caps or flyers then the desire and intensely will be there, come on how could it not be.They will defend again in the finals and I expect they will be more capable of winning game 1 or 2 on the road.It could very well come down to game 7 again and when the smoke clearly the ducks will lose in their own building ;-)

Get it right: Fleury isn't "my boy". I'm a Wings fan, I just like using logic to back up my thoughts.

8th best out of 30 goalies? Yeah, I'd take that.

All said, he's solid during the regular season; solid enough to take them to the playoffs (or keep them in it so that Crosby and Malkin can take them to the playoffs).

He was ahead of goalies such as Kiprusoff, Biron, Giguere, Theodore, Osgood, etc in GAA this season. He was ahead of the same list in Sv% in the regular season.

Say what you want, but all of those 'tenders made the playoffs. Maybe not as the starters in the case of Giggy and Theodore, but he's not "mediocre" as you so blithely reported.

Yes, he's 8th on a team that has very little defense and the best offensive presence in the entire playoffs (by numbers). Tim Thomas was #1 behind a team that was very strong defensively.

Oh s***, you mean this is a team sport?

Those Pens who had the base of a "mediocre" 'tender and two stars just took out our boys. They may make moves to replace people, but with how Shero has been handling the team, do you really have doubts that the Pens will make the playoffs?

I of course don't think they'll be a #1 out of the East; Boston is too strong to allow that. But they'll be in the playoffs for the East. I have no doubt of that. You're stupid to think that they don't have a shot and that they won't be a challenge for any team in the East.

No you misunderstood. He was 8th best among the 16 playoff teams. To me that's pretty average.

Ok. Granted, he got them into the playoffs but nobody really cares how he played in the regular season. As a PLAYOFF goaltender he was mediocre.

If you want to argue that he was 8th best out of 16 because of the the defense in front of him, that's fine. Then I will change my argument from they have a mediocre goaltender to they have a mediocre defense. The end result is the same.

Yes, the Pens beat us but it sure the hell wasn't because of Fleury and it wasn't by a lot. I think it was 1 goal in a 7th game and as long as we are talking about goaltending, how's this... The Wings actually outscored the Pens in the series.

They may make the playoffs but I don't see them going far. They aren't going to have the fortune to come back from 2 straight series when they are down 2-0, have the best team in the east eliminated in an OT of game 7, have only 1 significant injury (Gonchar) and play a injury riddled Wings team for the cup.

Kudos to them, they took advantage of the breaks.

Sorry but nobody is that fortunate 2 years in a row.

And THAT is why the Pens fans are mad. They know that they are not going to be dealt 4 aces twice in a row.

Ha ha ha, that was a good one. . . the Ducks. You seriously must have fallen under the Bettman spell that the Pens are some sort of a dynasty. Ducks still have JSG salary and a more capable goalie in Hiller. Who in their right mind would pick up JSG's salary? Maybe Chi since they love to overspend for average goaltending ha ha. Talk about age on a team, Pronger, Niedermeyers, Selanne.

Wings are the favorite in the West, easy. SJ will have a small facelift and dump in the playoffs in April AGAIN. The boys in Chi-town aren't quite there yet. Same goes for Columbus and St Louis just wasted $2.1M on Tkachuk.

Pens were given a gift when the Canes took out Boston.

Mark my words, Pens will fade from memory next postseason almost as fast as the Sharks.

What? Not a dynasty? But they have 1 cup and 2 finals appearance in 17 years. Or as the Pens fans say, 3 cups in 19 years just short of Detroit's..LOL

It wasn't because of Fleury that we lost? Did you watch games 6 and 7?

Nevermind that; did you watch the last 30 seconds of game 7?

They may not win the Cup next year, but they're one of the stronger teams in the East. It's hard to think that if Bylsma isn't over-hyped, they won't make the playoffs.

The Pens won IN SPITE OF FLEURY. Did you watch game 5? Yes he played well in game 6 and 7 but overall he wasn't great. You can't judge a goaltender's performance based on 30 seconds.

yeah, that makes sense. Fluery is a MVP goaltender because he made a save in the dying seconds of a game...

Osgood must be a GOD then. Kenny, sign Osgood for a 75 year contract... he's GOD!

It's also funny that you are trying to proclaim that Penguins are the strongest team in the east when next season will be an all new can of worms. Bruins will continue being the strongest team in he east. Pittsburgh will be the new Tampa Bay Lighting.

Learn how to read, please. In no circumstance have I ever said the Pens are the strongest team in the East.

If you think that, I really hope English isn't your first language.

I've even said IN THIS THREAD that the Bruins are the best team in the East.

I've said that the Pens can compete for a playoff spot, that's it. If you don't think they can, I don't know what to tell you; you don't know hockey.

I agree that the "haha tank" attitude of the Pens is ridiculously overblown, but Fleury's performance was average at best. Detroit was only able to provide sustained pressure in the third period, and they didn't even create many scoring chances when they did pressure the Pens.

Fleury's value to the team was shown in the previous rounds. Not even close in this one.

I lose my temper when people try to talk s*** about my team. I'll fight tooth and nail and to the death. Lol. I spent the night in jail in Colorado when I was there working back in 1999. I was at a sports bar watching game 6; Wings vs Avs. Some obnoxious fan started talking s*** to me (I was wearing my Yzerman jersey) and I busted him in the nose, then his friend tried to take a swing at me, I kicked his knee and he dropped like a bag of potatoes. Apparently the guys knee that I took out cost him his job because he couldn't do heavy construction work anymore.

A nite in jail and the court costs & fines was totally worth it! Moral of the story is don't disrespect my team and we'll get along just fine. And I hate nobody more than bandwagon fans!

Anyhow, it's good times thinking about the ups and downs and the entire history that I had in regards to my team :)

Dam I love my team!

Damn brah, you are pretty ******* cool. Way to ruin that guy's life, that piece of s*** totally had it coming.

you don't know hockey.

That's the most overused line on LetsGoWings. The people who use that phrase are usually the one ones who know little about hockey. Funny how that works.

It's ironic that you spout that line to someone that's played and studied the game of hockey ever since he could grasp what hockey was.

I've been playing the sport for almost 21 years; can you really argue that someone who's played the sport for that long doesn't know anything about it?

I guess I can't argue that you don't know hockey. That's unreasonable of me to assume and argue.

But you are unreasonably biased. You're not looking at my arguments without bias or prejudice; all you do is cut out little sentence fragments and make ad hominem attacks on my credibility without giving any justification for making those attacks.

It's getting to the point where I'm just going to ignore you. You don't post anything worth-while on these forums.

I gotta agree with you. If your name was "greatest wings fan ever" and you made the exact same points while pretending to be a wing's fan, this conversation would be over. I get the same thing on LGP. That's why I rarely post there.
