Andrej Nestrasil

From a Czech:

I have a Pierre-sized boner for a 6'2, 200 lbs winger with Hemsky-like hands and a willingness to play physical. I get to see Tomas Vincour play every week and I've never been as impressed with him as I have Nestrasil.

His only major weakness is skating ability, but that's primarily because of the imbalance between his stick-thin legs and bulky upper body rather than poor technique. He's got a lot of the same qualities as Thomas Vanek from his 17/18 year-old season.

Draft position: No major scouting 'services' have him in their top 30, but I'd put him there. Just a terrific player.

He's a lot of fun to watch. He's got a cockiness about him that screams "I'm going to score this shift". While he doesn't, he backs up the opposition and is crazy clutch. I'd wager 70%+ of his assists have come on GWG or GTG.

When he takes Victoriaville on his back, it's a show (see: OT GWG in a 1-0 win).

However, it hasn't always been this way. He was benched at the beginning of December, and has been a PPG+ player since, and their best most nights.

Sounds good to me, he's got the european flair but plays the physical game. Not bad for #75

I have a feeling Holland and Nil was high on this kid, which is why they traded 29th for 32nd and 75th.

He sounds like a "Mule" type player:

"Andrej Nestrasil is crazy clutch. I'd wager 70%+ of his assists have come on GWG or GTG. "

6'2" @ 200ibs (and will probably grow another inch and gain another 15-20 ibs... not too shabby!)

so with that ass beating Sweden just laid down on CR is it dumb to ask how Nestrasil look out there?

We can plug him in as a rookie no doubt he will be a 20 goal scorer! And if not, we will create a "Andrej Nestrasil is lazy and sucks thread." Well, the thread will come after about 30 games into the season.

Then he'll get hot, score a natural hat trick, fight the entire other team, and people will say "it's about time he played up to his potential. I knew along he'd develop just like this."

So it's a win/win. Nice.

I'm watching the World Juniors right now and this kid is amazing! He does it all, he kills penalties, he scores goals (had a goal in the WJ), plays on the Power Play and he's logging a ton of minutes. He Czech's best player on the ice. His passing is crisp and complete and his vision of the ice amazing. He's extremely skilled defensively. He's relentless on the back-check and fore-check and is great at take-aways, and he dominates along the board. I can't find any flaws in his game. This kid will be a top-six player on the Red Wings. Holland stole this kid with the 75th pick.

Did I mention he's huge at 6'2 @ 200ibs. I don't know what player in the NHL to compare him to but he's a complete and all-around amazing hockey player. He was Czech's best player tonight imo.

He plays like Robert Lang.

Lol. Not even close. Robert Lang? Seriously??

This kid was not invisible in world juniors. He was Czech's best player. He did it all from PKing to Power Play. He logged a ton of minutes. He was noticeable whenever he was out on the ice.

^^ That is not Robert Lang -estique. I'm not sure if Nestrasil will have Lang's offensive touch when Lang was at his best. Not sure if Nestrasil will be a 80-point guy... but I very much doubt he'll be a minus player.

Lang was a defensive player? I don't remember Lang be defensive what-so-ever. I remember him being lazy and invisible. But Lang did score nice goals, I give him that. Lang is a nice/clutch goal scorer and set up man.
