Abdelkader in GR just means Wings have about 4,4 million to sign 3 forwards (and that does not even count in Lebda and Meech, with them Wings have only about 3.5 to sign 3 forwards). But Sammy's not re-signed and probably won't be (he thinks he can make more money and I think he can), Hudler isn't inked and may not be, and who knows what's going to happen in training camp. He would be a great fit and maybe would sign that hometown discount. The thing is that he's really starting to fit in with that Carolina squad and since they had a good run this year, that might mean that he'll stay there. Plus, I don't think Kenny could match the Canes offer... If we can get anyone though, I'd still say Pahlsson. Adding to our team defense is never a bad thing, and a third line with Helm and Pahlsson would be a good one... We shall see though... Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

Youth is not a bad thing, but you don't want to rush it or put these guys in a bad position. Abby, in my opinion, won't be up this year, but will be the first GR call up. Remember how Helm played in the playoffs in 08, but didn't crack the squad in 09. It'll be similar with Abby who will likely get called up to the playoffs next season. bonan78 1 Report post Posted July 1, 2009 If we signed Pahlsson, then we'd probably see lines like this: Franzen/Zetterberg/Cleary Filppula/Datsyuk/Holmstrom Helm/Pahlsson/Leino Maltby/Draper/? Pahlsson's skills on faceoffs and backchecking are not suited to playing on the wing. Filppula would be the better choice to move to a wing, and he will play top 6 minutes this year and have a career year, whether he's playing center or playing on Datsyuk's wing. Leino will benefit from playing on a line with 2 defensively sound players in Pahlsson and Helm, and you can throw a league minimum, sandpaper-type guy as the 4th line question mark. I can actually get excited about this lineup, make it happen, especially since Pahlsson appears to be the odd man out in Chicago with Hossa and Kopecky coming in and Bolland re-signed.
