Ok, Jiri Hudler

I hope the people wanting to turn Hudler aside aren't the same guys that are worried about losing depth.

I'd take Hudler at 2.5M over John Madden or Sami Pahlsson at 2.75M anyday. And apparently, so would Holland.

The only way I want to see Hudler go is if we're trading him for a respectable third liner a la Colby Armstrong. Although I wouldn't be surprised to see Armstrong making $2M pretty soon.

Hopefully Kenny makes Huds be reasonable given the Wings situation. Otherwise, I'm also on the draft picks bandwagon.

Why do you think he wouldn't? This is the same guy that made a NON-NEGOTIABLE offer to Hossa of 4M. Do you think hes going to sit around and work things out with Hudler if Hudler wants some insane amount of cash?

He'll see what he wants, likely elect arbitration to protect him, and then if they can't get a deal done, he'll trade him. Simple as that.

Some people just have a hard time resisting the urge to act like half-brained morons - like Leftwinger - and suggest that Hudler isn't worth more than Colton freaking Orr.

I'd like him back provided he doesn't cost the $3m number that people throw around so much in connection with him. He's a talented offensive player, and still has plenty of time to mature defensively. He may never be Helm on the boards or hitting, but I don't think his size is such a huge downside as many people do. An excellent 3rd line player with a scoring touch right now, with potential for more than that. It does not need to be a long contract either, because I agree that if he has peaked already we don't really need to keep him.

I would love to keep him if he's willing to take less money than some people are bound to offer him should he trade his rights.

no, thanks.

i don't hate or even strongly dislike hudler.

i have seen him lose countless battles in the corners, where he's easily pushed off the puck.

i have seen his speed overshadowed by rushing plays, forcing the issue and often turning over the puck.

he's been clutch at times but if his contract impedes progress in signing another veteran free agent or young prospect, it's not a trade-off that i favor.

he also doesn't have natural chemistry with any of the line mates for which he's been a part.

makes sense to at least look elsewhere first. it would be good for hudler to earn a higher paid longer term deal with another franchise. should that happen, i wish him the best.

Let's not.

100 point scorer is completely ridiculous. So is a 12 year deal for Hudler.

I like him but have to agree, he will never be 100 point scorer and 12 year deal for Hudler would be nuts.

Why SHOULD, Hudler's point total increase? Who in the top six is he going to beat out for a spot?

Cleary? Datsyuk? Zetterberg? Flip? Franzen? Homer?

Hudler is officially stuck on the third line for this team. $3 million for a PP specialist? Not even the first PP, the second PP.

I would rather save the $2 million for the trade deadline and pickup a $5-$6 million dollar player for the playoffs who is going to be a UFA next season.

What're you a lawyer or something? Did you even read my post?

Firstly, I never said we should pay $3million for Hudler. In fact, I said the opposite. Reading comprehension. Live it. Learn it.

Secondly, at age 25, Hudler is still before his statistical peak (roughly, age 27), while Neil is past his. Why is this so hard to grasp?

Moot point now, anyway. Neil isn't going anywhere, and you can bet your sweet bippy that Hudler is reading a nice offer sheet from Holland right now.

EDIT: While we're at it, why is it inconceivable to you that Hudler would see increased minutes over the course the next five years as a Wing (at the end of which, btw, he'll only be 30 years old)? Homer is guaranteed to be retiring soon -- his body just can't take it anymore. That frees up at least one slot in the top six, and that's just off the top of my head. I'm not a huge Hudler fan, but you're just being silly.

HERE I AM LEFTWINGER....

.(YOU ******)

Not even close to dinner time.....I've got about 4 hours behind you.....only late afternoon so I am wide awake.

I'm sure there is a veteran player, but not one who will take LESS than $2mil.....hell, the guys that play 82 games, score a point or two and are in the penalty box for over 100minutes a year are getting paid more than $2MIL and have contracts.

How can you say a player doesn't deserve what they are making ($1.15 or so) for having a career high year in 4 seasons...HOSSA did NOT deserve $7.45 wahtever million! That is where Holland went wrong, but giving one person too much! 40 goals in a regular season....WONDERFUL it is a great number.....but it still didn't make him the point leader now did it?! They guys on THIS TEAM play for this team because they have trust and heart in the team. They know they will not get low-balled or traded...and Holland knows that his players will not ***** and complain about only making $1.5-$5Mil per year for a long term contract. Hossa saud, "I want to go to a team that can win the cup"......well he did, and HE didn't produce and left the team because now the reason is " I want to play w/ a younger team"......DUH....it's because he already hit his prime and now it's going to be the same and then downhill from there. Chicago if ANYTHING, just made their dumb asses weaker by letting the guy that blocked goals to get them to the playoffs go...who the hell do they have now, a guy that can play in the regular season and not produce in the playoffs....WHOOPTIDIDOO.....we had that guy, we lost......(hmmmm??????) Now, I'm not saying we lost because of Hossa.....not at all, because then I would have to say we lost because of everyone else that didn't produce in the playoffs and that's just retarded to say that.

Now you have a RFA (that yes, has to ACCEPT the offer sheet) that is worth more than $1.M (IMO) because of the season that he played....57 points in 82 games (who is that you want to sign Orr...LMFAO!) who will play for less than $2 for the 09/10 season....and will prove that he belongs on the Wings team....no one is stating DUMB ASS COMMENTS like LEFTWINGER (he had to do it on his own thread because the others got pushed back) just to get people that support a player to get all "angered up"

And how can you play consistently on the 1 or 2 lines if you're not given the chance?? Hmmmmm...how do expect anyone to play well when you're on a line w/ Sammy???

THERE IS NOT ANYONE OUT THERE THAT CAN PRODUCE THE POINTS AND PLAY ON THE PP better than Hudler that we can get for UNDER $2.5MIL for the 09/10 season........if there is please copy the stats for me so that I can see.

Sammy 40pts for $1.2MIL

Filpula 40pts for $3.0MIL cap hit

But Hudler doesn't deserve a raise??? If he got his legs lengthened or found a miracle drug that made him 5'11 would he be worth $3MIL then?????

I defended why I liked Hudler on another thread because I, once again, was getting criticized about my stating the FACTS.....and the guy came back with "well if that's your reasoning....why isn't your name Datsyuk-Fanatic".....Did I ever say that I didn't like Datsyuk.....maybe I should just change my name and then no one would even know that it was me...LEFTWINGER....and leave my ass alone.

Do I let it get thrwon at me because I reply to these lame ass comments by LEFTWINGER.....sure I do, I love a good "catfight" I am a GIRL....so LEFTWINGER all that man love you talk about, the're not all men.

I'm not INLOVE w/ Hudler...I think he has an ability and skill that yes, most guys his size, don't have....guess what I also followed BJ Armstrong(being an MJ FANATIC) when he played in the NBA...(played for Chicago #10)......

Maybe I do have a thing for short dudes, too bad my husband is a 6'0 225 guy from MICHIGAN.....hmmmm....how did that happen.

And as for your stupid "come on all you Hudler Lover number crunchers" if you can't do it yourself, don't come up with ridiculous ass terms (12yrs) when the fans that are supporting him are merely saying A SLIGHT RAISE OVER 2-3 YEARS....

As for those..."OMG...look at all who is gone...the Wings suck now, we'll never win" whiny ass people....THEY ARE NOT WINGS FANS..... We lost players that didn't do us any good.....

if someone will tell me besides he's too short, can't take a hit......why Holland wouldn't keep the #8 point maker in the regular season, and the #7 point maker in the playoffs (both in the TOP 10 of the team) for under $2.5MIL while shooting above 10% in both and let him go for some dumb ass that all he can do is skate and hit people and how that can make the Wings BETTER....than I'll listen.

Living where I live there aren't man y Wings fans to discuss these issues with, just a bunch of dumb as BandWagon fans that don't even know the name of the captian of the Pens...so I joined this forum.....and dumbasses like LEFTWINGER.....just need to leave if he can't have an adult debate about a player......

You don't win debates by telling stupid stories and make up silly scenarios that will never happen....oh wait, I guess Obama did win didn't he.....You probably voted for him too, didn't you LEFTWINGER.

(ps...he only started this thread because I laid into him in one already and he just wanted to see if I had the balls to respond again, well, I don't have balls, I'm a lady..but I don't back down either)

You do realise that post is so long noone will ever read it?

I rarely agree with you but yeah, I can't really argue with any of that. Kinda makes my post look stupid, furthermore. :P

I do agree even more with the last part. I can't believe some are saying they'd prefer Neil over Huds. What the f***? This is why I pull a disappearing act for the summers in GD. Way too much stupidity over speculation.

My only ***** about Hudler (which was really exaggerated during the playoffs) is that he's just physically weak on the puck. Somebody give him Barry Bonds' phone number and maybe Barry could hook him up with a couple cycles of HGH. Seriously though, how can a guy like Helm, who is listed at only 4 ibs. heavier than Huds and whose weight is spread out over a longer frame, be so much stronger with the puck than Huds, who's more compact and appearance-wise looks like he should be the stouter of the two? Could be that inner drive thing, who knows?

Like I said, Hudler gets by on talent more than any player on this team. Take 20lbs away from Datsyuk and you're look at similar players. The key difference? Datsyuk started working out more than ever in his career and put on tons of weight, he still a skinny guy.

Hudler is closer to Toni Rajala in terms of size than Datsyuk.

Someone of Hudler's size should be able to skate much faster than he does. And yes, that is something that can be improved upon but I don't think Hudler has shown the willingness to do so. Why would he? Hes putting up 60 points on the third line. If he were on any other team he'd be under the spotlight much more.

Can you trade a player during arbitration? I know they can continue to negotiate until the decision is rendered and than they have 2 days to accept or refuse the offer at which point he becomes a free agent but I can't recall of ever hearing of a player traded during arbitration. It seems like the union would go ape s*** over it...

Hmmmm, wow! First of all, your quote wasn' even my post, so I don't now where this came from. Second I don't recall you laying into me in a previous thread, the only response I remember from to directly to me was another time where I mentioned a long term deal for Hudler and you responded "Long Term Long Term!" if that is laying into me, then wow, we now know why that Alaskan lady ruined the Presidential bid for the Republicans, don'tcha know! BTW, no I did not vote for the illegal immigrant that ran for President.

lets see, what else. I really don't recall attacking you personally or telling you to change your name, crazy, but I do believe you have me confused with someone else. I made this thread because I wanted to see if anyone had any ideas of re-signing Hudler but by not raping our Cap. AND if you do recall, I did start the thread called "If you think Hudler is NOT worth $3.0million, think again." In which I gave plenty of reasons why Hudler IS worth a raise, but givin our limited cap space, he is not worth $3.0m here. And he should take a page out of the superstars books here and re-sign for a lot less than his market value so Holland can ice the best possible team. I think maybe you should scan through your posts and reminds yourself of who you were yelling at before, because it wasn't me, but I am glad I got your attention because you were one of the folks I was hoping would come up with a great plan to keep Jiri here without raping our cap. Wow, maybe your 6'0 husband should help you with the panties that are i a bunch and while he's down there, relieve some stress.

I started this thread in support of Hudler, only to find that everyone that was responding was anti-Hudler or didn't think he was worth re-signing. That is why I called out the Hudler lovers because in every other thread I mentioned my dislike for re-siging Hudler they were there. Relax Martha, relax!

Other than being somewhat useful on the 2nd pp unit - what exactly does Hudler do?

He creates some kind of strange man crush for almost half of LGW.

This guy gets way too much love around here for some euro squirt that plays in spurts.

The difference being, Hudler is very redundant on this team, while Neil is the kind of player we needed.

We'll get a Neil type eventually, when the dead weight known as Draper and Maltby are put to pasture.

Yeah, because that's exactly what I have been saying....

I think Hudler-lovers are very sensitive, relax people, I have nothing against him personally, but everyone of you expected Hossa to stay for 50% of what he s worth, is it so wrong that I believe the same thing about Hudler?
