Kenny should save our cap space until the trade deadline

With so many big named free agents gone already, I think it would be best if Kenny saved our cap space until the trade deadline, so that we can make a big trade for a superstar if things aren't going well, and if they are well we can just save the space. thoughts?

I know it's not Kenny's style, but it wouldn't be all that horrible if he signed Hudler or Sammy and eventually traded one or both of them.

...obvs. without Hossa, Huds and Sammy would get more ice-time. Show what they're made of, not that most can't already see...

but with more ice-time they may prove their worth to the team, or value to other teams in future trades.

I know that signing players and keeping them and being loyal to them is a great way to be trust within a franchise, but sometimes methinks that this loyalty borders on being detrimental to the team.

If you know you want to move on, but the pieces aren't necessarily there for you... why is it wrong to keep what you've got for a little while longer and then move it when the time is right. I'm not saying that KH never makes trades, but when was the last time he traded someone that was a key or essential 2nd or 3rd line player.

Get Leino signed, stay competitive until the deadline, hope Minnesota is out of the race and grab a certain veteran without a Stanley Cup to his resume who should be had for cheap. (Wouldnt mind grabbing a Mark Bell/Travis Moen for cheap if it's at all possible during the summer though!)

Kenny needs to sign an enforcer.

Preferably someone who has a limited skill set, can't skate well, and takes many stupid penalties. As long as he can enforce and hit, I'm fine with it.

Hell to the yeh. Those guys win Stanley Cups with their fists.

Since about halfway through day one of Free Agent Frenzy, I knew this was the route we would end up taking, and it actually doesn't bother me. Let the youngin's come up and get some ice time, and we can address concerns as we see them play out during the first part of the season.

Yes, sign back OUR boys and pick up that last piece when we know what it is from trial and error.

THIS THIS THIS

Im not usually the guy to jump on people, but damn, Leftwinger you need to have an original thought of your own. You are like the geeky kid in school who says and does things to please the popular kids in hopes that they will be your friend. You flip flop all over the place changing your mind every 5 seconds depending on who on these forums is saying what. You have had like 3 topics where you have advocated signing Hudler at like 3 million, and now because everyone is saying get rid of him you are all for just signng leino and calling it a day. Noone is going to get mad at you for having your own opinion. Jeez, just stick to what you think and go with it. Im tired of reading about your opinions and thoughts change every post...

Yeah dammit what ^he^ said!

:hehe:

haha i swear, i really was not trying to be a dick, its just depending on who says what and when, leftwinger changes their stance on the subject. It just drives me crazy. I dont dislike the guy or anything, i just want them to know that you cant please everyone, thats all there is to it. State your opinion and stick with it. The point of these forums is to state how you feel. Noone is going to lynch you for your opinion. We care about what you think, not about what you want to say to please everyone else.

I think the fact that we don't have to go out and grab every big free agency is why we seem to be such a good team. We draft and develop a style that players have to adjust too more then most; our team asks more of our fowards. Thus most of the incoming free agents seem to never be as good as they were before the came.

Eh...we've seen teams do it before. But quite frankly, I'm not a big fan of the whole 'wait and see' approach. I'd rather address or holes now, and get a core of players we can work with all season long.

Unless you have a name like HudlerFanatic.... :P

Sammy is gone.....so we have Leino & Hudler right w/ a defensemen to still be traded most likely correct?

And Hudler going to arbitration.....sooooooo......I can't wait to see the outcome!

There will be so much money that will come into play in the 10/11 season, so I predict there will be a 2-3 year term deal with a slight raise for Hudler this year and more for the 10/11 & 11/12 seasons.....or they will do that for Leino's 2 yr deal and give Hudler more of a raise this year......one or the other...there are more options now that Sammy is for sure out of the equation.......
