I am just curious what others opinions are on this. I have seen a few posts where people claim this team needs to lose in the first round again to get motivated. I think losing game 7 would be motivation enough. Other thoughts?

Edit:

To those wondering why so few votes have gone to the lost on home ice, it is because I added it late, like the asshat I am!

If you're the Wings and you've been in seemingly every possible scenario in the playoffs, that whole "we've been there before" attitude, motivation tends to stay at a steady rate so that you don't get too high or too low.

To players, gotta be Game 7. But if it were me, the loss to the Ducks in 07 was the worst.

Hell yeah. That along with Colorado in 96 and again in 99.

If I had to rank them according to dramatic hissy fits I threw then it would actually go Colorado 99, Colorado 96 and then Anaheim 07.

That is a fantastic scale, what are the ratings:

Threw empty beer at TV

Kicked the foot rest

Threw a piece of Furniture

Threw a full beer

Kicked the dog

LOL!

Dont forget throw the remote at the wall enraged.

That would be just above pulling my hair and just below pulling my Wings sweater over my head and yelling F*&K at the top of my lungs!

Ha! No beer. I wasn't old enough to drink for... actually all of them. 99 was the worst for me though and I don't know why. It should've been 96. Hmm... What did I do? I don't know about kicked furniture but I definitely punched some doors and walls. I threw stuff and oh, now I remember that something I threw actually knocked a picture of Jesus off the wall. Yeah I'm going to hell.

I've done enough screaming of that word with a jersey over my face in my lifetime already!

Motivation is different for everybody, personally if i almost had something and missed getting it, id feel worn out and just want to sleep probably bum around for a while ( im thinking of when I was looking for a job coming in second doesnt feel all that great)

thats from an individual perspective from a team perspective could be very different.

When you are able to "flip a switch" for the most part from "being bored" in the regular season to playing at a high tempo in the postseason and coming up 1 win short, motivation isn't the problem. Sometimes you just get beaten no matter how hard you try or how motivated you are.

may I add losing on home ice in the SCF - watching someone else hoist the cup on your ice is heart wrenching and you NEVER want to see that again... I think that's what pushed Pit so hard this year...

Couple this with the Hossa fiasco and a couple guys with chips on their shoulders and I think we're poised for a good run in 09-10

Pretty sure voting is almost done but I added it. Can you guys edit your vote like I can edit the poll?
