Guest mindfly Report post Posted July 14, 2009 (edited) Marian Hossa won't have long to wait to face his former teammates. The Detroit Red Wings' home opener will be against Hossa and the Chicago Blackhawks on Oct. 8. Two nights later, the Red Wings will host two-time league MVP Alex Ovechkin and the Washington Capitals, according to a person familiar with the NHL schedule, which is expected to be released Wednesday. It was announced months ago that the Red Wings will open the regular season in Stockholm, Sweden, on Oct. 2-3, with a pair of games against the St. Louis Blues. The Blackhawks, who signed Hossa to a 12-year, $62.8 million free-agent contract July 1, open the regular season in Helsinki, Finland, on Oct. 2-3 against the Florida Panthers. The Red Wings eliminated the Blackhawks in the Western Conference finals. Hossa spent one season in Detroit, leading the team with 40 goals during the regular season but struggling in the playoffs (six goals, nine assists). The Oct. 10 game against Washington will be only the second career appearance for Ovechkin in Detroit. http://www.mlive.com/redwings/index.ssf/20...er_against.html Hossa we're coming for ya! elriqo28 2 Report post Posted July 14, 2009 I am glad we are redeveloping our rivalry with the Blackhawks. Nashville is too boring of a rivalry.

One could hope so, but one could also hope that they renovate instead of move. I love the Joe.

Trapt1307 81 Report post Posted July 14, 2009 my prediction..... karma will get hossa and he will have a horrible season Karma for what? Signing with the Wings for a bargain in the first place? Don't boo him, you'll look like a ******.
WingZNut13 99 Report post Posted July 15, 2009 I think this will be a testament to how well Hossa can handle pressure like the playoffs. You can say don't boo him as much as possible, but Red Wings fans will boo him and boo him often. I think he does the exact same thing he did at Detroit. He will a semi-great season and will buckle in the playoffs when they meet the wings in the 2nd round. Boo him all you want....what matters is how the players and staff treat him in his return to the Joe. Knowing Babcock and his staff....they will treat it like a normal preseason game. I have faith in Kronwall to attempt to destroy him once. We can't worry about Hossa. We need to worry first about filling the rest of our roster and ensuring everyone is ready for the season. f*** HOSSA! We don't need him.
