Brad Staubitz

Ok before this turns into a toughness debate I hope to see some rational points in here.

Staubitz is an RFA this year (still hasn't resigned as far as I know?)

He's not huge and he's only 24. He can skate pretty well and throws his weight around big time. He can fight too but he's no heavyweight. He tuned Tootoo in last year. I wouldn't mind seeing Holland send an offer sheet this guys way for depth purposes this year in GR then in a year or 2 give him a spot on the big club.

He's never been a goal scorer but he's not a goon either, he's a character player who sticks up for teammates, will hit and should develop well enough to play a regular shift. I know its unlikely to happen but what would people think if this signing did happen? He played Jr. C in my hometown thats why I'm bringing this up.

Holland isn't going to waste his time sending an offer-sheet for an enforcer for Grand Rapids.

he's not a ***** and wasn't orginally drafted by the wings, therefore there is no chance of making our bottom lines.

Well, Holland did once trade for an enforcer (Cory Cross), so you never know.

He's not an enforcer and he's only 24. He could be a decent 3rd liner that brings punishment with some developing time. He obvioulsy wouldn't make the team this year but one or two down the road he could.

On this site, any 3rd line Canadian who happens to fight is automatically presumed to be an enforcer, and is also presumed to be a player with limited skills who takes lots of stupid penalties and doesn't get much ice time.

Oh thats right I forgot this is LGW afterall. How could I forget that. Ya its too bad some of these guys here didn't open their eyes to what guys that play this style of game on teh bottom lines could do for a team eh? Oh well what can you do.

How long did it take you to build that gigantic strawman?

You guys are a riot.

My point still stands. Holland wouldn't waste an offersheet on someone who's upside is a third-liner.

Why not? He would offer less so he wouldn't give up as many draft picks and its not like theres any huge superstar RFA's to save an offer sheet for. I doubt he would do it but not because he doesn't want to waste an offer sheet on a solid 3rdliner.

Didn't we once pick up a guy named Aaron Downey? Maybe I am mistaken about that. But i'm pretty sure we did. And therefore, that negates any argument about bringing in a guy whose potential is no better than 3rd line, can't move very well, isn't a puck possession player or has hands of stone.

There's no reason on this Earth why Brad Staubitz couldn't take a regular shift on the Wings 4th line. Oh wait, yes there is. His name is Kirk Matlby and he's utterly useless. Has skills that most of other guys on the roster are better than him at and is overpaid.

Yeah but Malts is gone after this year so why not bring in a young guy who essentially is going to play a 4th line role and could develop into more like Stauby? Unless the wings are hoping to fill this role with someone like Oulahen or Tardiff.

Can anyone here comment on whether Tardiff has the speed to keep up with an NHL game or if he throws his weight around much? I've heard plenty about Oulahen but haven't heard much of Tardiff. Someone who actually has a decent grasp on this guys talent comment please
