Staubitz is an RFA this year (still hasn't resigned as far as I know?) He's not huge and he's only 24. He can skate pretty well and throws his weight around big time. He can fight too but he's no heavyweight. He tuned Tootoo in last year. I wouldn't mind seeing Holland send an offer sheet this guys way for depth purposes this year in GR then in a year or 2 give him a spot on the big club. He's never been a goal scorer but he's not a goon either, he's a character player who sticks up for teammates, will hit and should develop well enough to play a regular shift. I know its unlikely to happen but what would people think if this signing did happen? He played Jr. C in my hometown thats why I'm bringing this up. Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

He could be a decent 3rd liner that brings punishment with some developing time. He obvioulsy wouldn't make the team this year but one or two down the road he could. On this site, any 3rd line Canadian who happens to fight is automatically presumed to be an enforcer, and is also presumed to be a player with limited skills who takes lots of stupid penalties and doesn't get much ice time. He would offer less so he wouldn't give up as many draft picks and its not like theres any huge superstar RFA's to save an offer sheet for. But i'm pretty sure we did. Yeah but Malts is gone after this year so why not bring in a young guy who essentially is going to play a 4th line role and could develop into more like Stauby? Unless the wings are hoping to fill this role with someone like Oulahen or Tardiff. Can anyone here comment on whether Tardiff has the speed to keep up with an NHL game or if he throws his weight around much? I've heard plenty about Oulahen but haven't heard much of Tardiff.
