Doggy 130 Report post Posted August 29, 2009 Rumoured to be $2.25M... Williams + Bertuzzi = $3M.... $3m for Williams and Bertuzzi is a great deal. What's Alex Tanguay gonna do for us besides fade into the background? He's just not needed in Detroit. At least Bert is big and has something to prove. On-topic: this is actually a good signing for the Bolts. With a solid D set-up, Tanguay adds to their top-6 quite nicely. They're not gonna be such an awful team this year. Lidstrom for Norris 0 Report post Posted August 29, 2009 Tanguay - Lacavlier - St. Louis Hedman - Ohlund Looks like Tampa may not be the bottomfeeder of the league this season as they have been the past few. Possibly a sleeper going into the postseason?

Doggy 130 Report post Posted August 29, 2009 (edited) forgot Stamkos and Malone It's an interesting thought, but having 7 skaters out there might result in a minor penalty. Edited August 29, 2009 by Doggy
InKennyWeTrust 126 Report post Posted August 29, 2009 It's an interesting thought, but having 7 skaters out there might result in a minor penalty. Yeah, about that... I'm pretty sure it's not a penalty anymore. It seems to be an acceptable tactic to use 6 skaters in the playoffs, anyway.
The Mule 0 Report post Posted August 29, 2009 Great snag for the Bolts. I'm pulling for them this season. I have an infatuation with the state of Florida, so if it weren't for the Red Wings (and Leafs, I suppose), I'd be a Panthers or Lightning fan.
RedWings Gone Wild 6 Report post Posted August 29, 2009 Great snag for the Bolts. I'm pulling for them this season. I have an infatuation with the state of Florida, so if it weren't for the Red Wings (and Leafs, I suppose), I'd be a Panthers or Lightning fan. I'm sorry, how is this a great signing? They bought out Prospal to make room for Tanguay, and Tanguay really isn't that much of an improvement.... they still don't have a decent top 6... they have 4 offensive players (vinny, tang, st louis, and Stamkos).. it's going to be the same as last year with a minuscule improvement on D with Ohlund coming in.... and the rest of their additions are at-best role players that will duke it out for spots on the roster.. They had 50 guys play for them last season in a desperate attempt to find some consistency... i don't expect this season to be any different. For this team to be good Stamkos would have to light it up on the second line so that the team actually has more than 1 line of offense.. and Mike Smith will have to be a wall (literally). BeeRYCE 2 Report post Posted August 29, 2009 If every player plays their full potential or at least close, Tampa is going to be SCARY up front. Top 6: Lecavalier St. Louis Stamkos Malone Tanguay Halpern Not too too bad at all. Plus if Hedman, Ohlund, and Meszaros play good, pretty good team... At least up from last season. Aside from Lecavalier and to a lesser extent St. Louis, there's nobody "scary" on their team. They will still be a bottom feeder until they find multiple impact players to sign. Tanguay > Prospal. 2. Stamkos lit it up at the end of last year. I expect that play to continue. 3. Ohlund, Hedman, Meszaros, Ranger, Walker, and Lashoff is a decent set of d-men. 4. Mike Smith is vastly underrated. If the Lightning improve, so will Smith's numbers.

TheOwl 77 Report post Posted August 30, 2009 I'd rather have Bertuzzi than Tanguay, though. No you would not! Bertuzzi in his short prime was a better hockey player, but right now Tanguay is far better and more reliable, if healthy.
numberthirtynine 0 Report post Posted August 30, 2009 Tanguay also costs 3 million dollars. Unless we find someone at almost vet minimum we've still got to fill roster spots and they weren't comfortable with Abdelkader being up this season. I also doubt he would've taken a one year deal here. there's more to it than just ____ > _____

They dont look to bad but hedman will play in the ahl this year. he is use to playing on european ice surface not smaller rinks and they are not gonna take there chance letting a young d-man learn the north-american game in the NHL hence him playing in the AHL this year
mmamolo 287 Report post Posted August 31, 2009 Not that I think Tanguay is a stud or anything but I was surprised he signed a oen eyar deal for only $2.5M/yr. At that price I'm not sure why more teams weren't after him all this time. He's capable of, as he has done it in the past, of 60-70 pts this year. Even if he only puts up 50 for that price that's a good deal. Although it doesn't make a ton of sense, cap wise, why the Lightning would buyout Prospal to sign Tanguay
