mmamolo 287 Report post Posted August 31, 2009 Here's an interesting article that details Holland's stance on the Hudler situation with Dynamo. It doesn't appear as though the IIHF will impact the Wings or Hudler's plans. Hudler Gone, But Not Forever
Jaymz99 2 Report post Posted August 31, 2009 Holland verified this on stage Saturday at Hockeyfest. He is FOR SURE going to Russia. 2 years with an out clause after one year written into the contract.
Broken 16 381 Report post Posted August 31, 2009 I'm glad the Hudler will be gone for sure this season. I'm really anxious to see what this roster can do for a season. Having said that... I'd be happy if he came back the following season or the season after. Especially if the KHL has a positive influence over him. Good luck Happy. Come back to us big, strong and mean. I really think Hudler will come back that much more experienced and developed and we'll get a great player at a very reasonable salary. I know a lot of ppl are pissed that he signed with the KHL but I think we're going to get the benefit of this whole situation in the long run. In either one or two years time we'll have a lot of holes to plug but our core will be in tact. Even at Hudler's current production (57 pts) a cap hit of $2.875/yr is solid and he still has the potential to get better. I'd gladly welcome him back. Had he stayed this year our cap situation would have been just as dicey, if not worse, and I think his game will excel playign in Russia for a year or two. dragonballgtz 273 Report post Posted August 31, 2009 I wonder if they planned this out from the get go? So If Hudler does get any better then he comes back to the Wings at a discount. What a deal!!
Cern 0 Report post Posted August 31, 2009 (edited) I wonder if they planned this out from the get go? So If Hudler does get any better then he comes back to the Wings at a discount. What a deal!! That's what I've been saying for a while now, though considerable numbers of people seem intent on sticking to the story of Hudler having literally overnight turned into a finance-leeching ogre hellbent on nothing more than raping the Wings. Whatever the case, the fact that the Wings now have a bunch of one-year deals and Hudler has an out clause after this season with first dibs on a contract with the Wings should (I hope) prove beneficial for everyone involved. Hudler, Bertuzzi, Williams, and Eaves (if he's not put in the AHL) are all going to HAVE to play their asses off this season if they want to stick with the team and keep a decent player value. Broken 16 381 Report post Posted September 1, 2009 (edited) They should give him the same stuff that Ivan Drago was taking. No... he's gotta pull Pauly in a sled and outrun the KGB on a snowy path before he can come back. Maybe chop some wood. Maybe lift his ex-girlfriend and the two hookers in a big ole' wagon.
