wings1110 184 Report post Posted September 4, 2009 we all know that there will most likely be a trade after training camp. including the mainy variables (liljas health, etc) your thoughts on what it may be.
VM1138 1,921 Report post Posted September 4, 2009 Lebda and Meech are goners, for sure. There's just too much depth to keep both of them on board. That is, unless Lilja can't play. In this case we keep Meech (unfortunately) because he can supposedly play two positions. Lebda is gone no matter what, his time in Detroit is done. Aside from that, I'm not sure what moves Holland can make to bring the team back under the cap. Maybe sending Eaves down to GR, but I don't want to see that. wings1110 184 Report post Posted September 4, 2009 what would we be lookin to get in return for lebda? draft picks?
Jedi 1,865 Report post Posted September 4, 2009 As cap strapped as we're going to be this year, like last year, we're probably looking at draft picks for whoever is leaving town.
RedWings Gone Wild 6 Report post Posted September 4, 2009 what would we be lookin to get in return for lebda? draft picks? Since Lebda only has a year left... he's basically a rental... so either a conditional pick or a real low pick would probably be all we get...
Dominator2005 558 Report post Posted September 4, 2009 I don't think that anyone will trade for Lebda - he's gone by waiver... and he's going to be back next season, Holland likes to bring former Red Wings... So next season: Lebda IN, Gilchrist IN and Deveraux IN...
P. Marlowe 748 Report post Posted September 4, 2009 Lilja most likely won't be able to start the season so Lebda will be the defenseman number six and Meech will be number seven (unless Meech outplays Lebda). No one will be traded. If Lilja recovers at some point and there's no cap room for him to come back then either Lebda or Meech will be traded depending on which one is lower in the depth chart. Dimaline312000 51 Report post Posted September 4, 2009 I just hope we don't have another Quicey scenario. I want to be able to get something for whoever we let go.

LIDDYGIBBY5 1 Report post Posted September 4, 2009 If Lilja is healthy, trade him. He has the most trade value of any of our defensemen that we would be willing to move, plus he moves the most money of any defenseman that we would be willing to trade. If he isn't healty, he will be on LTIR and not count against the cap so it isn't a worry. Lebda and Meech make peanuts. Hell, Meech's cap hit is less than the league minimum. He is the best for someone to sit the pine in that sense.
LeftWinger 4,963 Report post Posted September 4, 2009 trading lebda and meech barely clears enough cap if Lilja is healthy, it only leave us $160,000 and only 6 defensmen on the roster. Not anywhere near enough for a call up for when one of our D gets hurt. This is a bad situation we're in and unfortunately its gonna cost us. Lilja (if healthy) is the one probably going to be traded along with lebda or meech. If Lebda and Lilja get traded or waived, it frees up nealry $1M for call-ups both at the forwardand defensive positions for injuries, plus like has been iluded to, Meech can play forward in a pinch. Messy, Messy, Messy....
