Wasn't able to watch the game, but it seems like the Wings showed exactly what I was hoping for. Hopefully those 2 performances against the Blues had more to do with nerves or being distracted by all the commotion of going to Sweden than actually being indicative of what the season will look like.

Now I just hope they can put together 60 solid minutes against the Caps too. The defense and goaltending will have to be at it's best to stop Ovie & Co.

Will be watching the game with a buddy of mine who is a die-hard Caps fan, so the stakes are high.

Oh, and what's up with Draper so far? Bounce back year? He looked good against the Blues and on that goal yesterday he looked like Ovechkin

It's almost a rebirth of the Grind Line. Maltby's been playing well, Draper has some swagger, and May's taken McCarty's place.

Oz looked awesome last night- don't know how it looked on TV, but from section 208 it was clear he had no shot on goal 1 and minimal on goal 2.

we gotta stop blocking shots with our ankles. i was worried there twice tonight.

Or wear ankle guards, I've never seen a team that blocks so many shots with there ankle bones.

Ozzie was amazing and it was really nice to see May add some grit however something is not working right with the big guns. Z, Pasha and Franzen need to be more involved offensively.

datysuk and zetterberg have looked a little off. at times they both showed flashes of their usual brilliance but I think part of the problem is the lack of chemisty with some of their linemates. They'll get it togeter in the next few games I believe

It looks like Bertuzzi is gonna take a little while to learn the Red Wings system. I'm not writing him off by any means but he is the most ineffective player on our top 3 lines at the moment. I think May is a great fit for the Wings, in his first game he showed more than Downey did in his 2(?) seasons with the team.

I also picked caps as winner on saturday in the week2 thread however i would love to see the wings beat them but they are hot the wings.. not so much =) i hope they can prove me wrong.

Great game to be at last night, atmosphere was very good. I sat next to some people from Los Angeles who regularly attend King game and they said they loved the atmosphere here and the knowledge Detroit fans have of the game, as opposed to Kings fans would couldn't name more than 2 players on the team and mostly show up just to riducule the opposition.

Burt is the new Lang. Seemed great at times, Lazy the next.

We now have an organ player and he sucks. sounds bad too.

Williams doesn't belong on the point for PP. Dmen play D.

Joe hasn't changed however they may being giving programs away for free, they were last night.
