BeeRYCE 2 Report post Posted October 13, 2009 1. Quincey 2. Fedorov 3. Knuble I didn't read the "why" part... 1. He seems to be one of the top young d-man in the league when it comes to both offensive and defensive responsibility. He could be used as a second PP pairing with Kronwall, and a great addition to our line up. 2. Nostalgic purposes I guess, I always liked him, and has one good year left in the tank. Him and Datsyuk would be lethal together. 3. Good for the second PP unit, and the PK... Now with Franzen gone especially, using his help would certainly not hurt. eva unit zero 271 Report post Posted October 13, 2009 No, pretty sure the OP meant top 3 former Wings. So you don't have to go back to the OP: We all know that LGW can be nostalgic sometimes even to a fault, so name 3 players who at one time were Red Wings and why you think they would help our current team. Sounds like a "Pick 3 guys to add to the roster who used to be Wings." to me.

HenryMalredo 2 Report post Posted November 15, 2009 No love for Ray Whitney? Not really the type of player the Wings lack right now but a solid playmaker nonetheless. I wouldn't take him now, but he would've really helped the Wings immediately post-lockout when he he could've got some significant playing time, instead of being stuck on the third line like his one year here. Drake_Marcus 890 Report post Posted November 16, 2009 1. quincey - hes gonna be a star hes better than meech or ericsson, especially meech. if it wasnt for chelios we would still have him At no point has Quincey ever outplayed Ericsson in his entire career. Does he have more points right now? Yes, does he have a better point per minute played? No. Is he capable of putting more even strength points up per minute? Again, no. There's a reason why Quincey was waived-- the Wings felt that Ericsson would be playing in a year anyway and was the superior player. Ericsson's top end potential is certainly higher than Quincey. Give Ericsson the most PP minutes on the team and put him out there as the #1 d-man and he'd put up more points than Q. The difference in E's offensive instincts, shot and puck carrying ability is huge.

Aussie_Wing 354 Report post Posted November 16, 2009 (edited) 1. Fleischmann. Absolutely amazing at times offensively, on a 7 or 8 game point streak right now, at a goal a game pace nearly. Not great defensively but is improving and his offensive game has got better every year. Stupid Lang. 2. Quincey. Enough said, he's a gem. 3. Kozlov. Continues to get it done, been such a consistent player over so many years. Matthias probably would've topped my list a year or two ago but he's done nothing for over 12 months. Doesn't even look AHL standard. Edited November 16, 2009 by Aussie_Wing

eva unit zero 271 Report post Posted November 16, 2009 Well, to update my selections... Let's look at the roster, assuming everyone is healthy. Leino/Zetterberg/Cleary Franzen/Datsyuk/Holmstrom Bertuzzi/Filppula/Williams Helm/Draper/Eaves Miller Lidstrom/Rafalski Kronwall/Stuart Ericsson/Lilja Meech Osgood Howard First of all, I expect Lebda to be traded or waived when Lilja returns, so that solves one of my 'replacement' slots. So what I would do is remove Bertuzzi and Williams, and add Fedorov, Hossa, and Hudler. The lines would be as follows: Datsyuk/Zetterberg/Holmstrom Franzen/Hudler/Hossa Filppula/Fedorov/Cleary Helm/Draper/Leino Miller May Lidstrom/Rafalski Kronwall/Stuart Ericsson/Lilja Meech Osgood Howard
