A New Low in Sports Marketing

This was implemented last year, and people online freaked out without doing any research then, too. It's a computer-generated advertisement, meaning only those watching the game on television can see it, and while it may be a tad distracting, it isn't a real deterrent. No such ads exist in person.

How have some people not picked up on the fact that this is CGI yet? Just like the 1st and 10 graphics in football are not actually on the field!

This is only for viewers on TV and I actually find it to be a brilliant marketing use of ad space...

It's a bit of an eyesore, but I'd take CG ads on the glass over jersey ads any day of the week

Yeah, I'd hate to have a two-inch wide Reebok Edge logo right above the name plate on the back of every player's jersey.

Honestly, I know what you mean but logo creep is already in the NHL. I think we're maybe four or five years away from seeing a random auto maker logo, or satellite radio logo prominently on the front of some team's jersey. I just hope it isn't ours.

ok, there is a difference between the manufacturer of a jersey putting their logo on it and what is already in place in europe

while i do realize some teams do have some additional logos on jerseys or helmets, its kinda silly that you use total hyperbole and attack reebok putting their logo on their own product.

He means the yellow line in the NFL where it's the marker for the first down. It's not actually on the field just a tv add on.

Are you saying the first down line isn't really there?

SCREW YOU, YOU CAN KILL THE EASTER BUNNY BUT THE FIRST DOWN LINE LIVES FOREVER!!!!

Wait, what?

I'd like for you to go to your desk and identify any products within sight that DO NOT have the company logo/name/etc. somewhere on the product.

Now I'd like you to identify any products that do.

It does beat those lightbox ads in the boards that shine onto the ice.

Exactly. Those ads are way too bright and distracting. They should be about half as luminescent, so they don't reflect on the ice surface.

I have a feeling if they were real ads on the glass and not CG'd they would be similar to trucks rear window graphic... you see the item on the outside looking in, but when you are in the inside looking out, you can see right through it. To me the netting is still the worst obstruction they have on the ice to date
