Oh my what an embarassing game...wings would have won this if they had a goaltender who could stop a puck.. osgood doesnt care about regular season and howard will never be a nhl goaltender.. thing looks so bright.. not.

Did you guys hear ray ferrarro on TSN, i felt sick in my stomach because he bashed wings so hard and it was all true...

McCollum and Larsson will be much better

 Filppula's been terrible on the PK lately. He was on the ice for both PP goals against tonight. He was on the ice for 4 of the first 5 EDM goals tonight too. So I'd say he didn't exactly have a night that qualifies for "best player".

His +/- so far? -6. Val needs to tighten up defensively because he's one of the most important defensive forwards on this team. Yeah we all appreciate his offense, but he's known for his defense and can't start sacrificing it.

I agree with this, but also with the unlucky part. Like in the Canucks game, what's a guy suppose to do? You pass great scoring chances to Bert & Z and then Ozzie... Well you know and ends up with -2 after a great 1st period by him.

So far we have 4 pts on this road trip. Holland said going in that the goal was to come home with 5 pts, so a victory in Calgary will salvage the trip.

So he has changed that "3 wins" I heard on FSD in the beginning of the raod trip? Sneaky ba*****!

I'll take the point after how we started and SO really means nothing in the way of "who is better." When they woke up and played Red Wings hockey it was men against boys, hopefully they bring that for the full 60 against Calgary.

With Flip out, and i know this is a long shot, but i would like to see Tatar play a game or two, he's a peppy little spit f*ck

GO WINGS!!!!!!!!!!!!

I was at Rexall last night for the game. I wanted to go home part way through the second (i never would have because my seats were amazing), but then it turned into an amazing game. Bitter taste that they didn't steal both points, but we've gotta be happy with one after that BRUTAL start. The third period was an indication of what the Wings should be doing for 60 mins everygame - it proved to me that they still have the talent to win a lot of games this season.

I completely missed the Flip hit - and that injury sucks big time. How much more can they take?

P.S. I had high hopes for Leino this season, but last night he was just awful. NO physicality in his game whatsoever.

how was Howard in general?? i've seen the highlights and it seems that in all goals, Howard looses like the balance and falls.. he has to work on that.. man, he is more on the floor (or ice in this case, lol) and in one or two he could have done better.. i still see him out of this team in a couple months.

The team in general what ive seen looks ok, good plays, fast.. someone tell me better!

He was utterly brutal, it was very hard to watch, you felt sick... and you bit your nails off everytime oilers entered the wings zone :/

The only complaint I have about Howard (so far) is his rebound control. He's making the first, 2 (and 3) shots... but with the Wings inability to clear the puck and Howard scrummaging around trying to catch the puck, boom... it's in the back of the net. If Howard doesn't allow rebounds, he'd be really-really amazing. So yeah, his rebound control wasn't so good yesterday. If there were no rebounds, there'd be no goals in his net.

Howard was very aggressive and solid in the third.

He really needs to work on his angles and his rebounds. As his confidence grows, if improves in those areas he could be fairly serviceable.

yeah, that's more or less what i say. He doesn't control the rebounds and looses his body balance all the time and "falls"(meaning he doesn't get into the butterfly position for example, he just lets his body fall and tries to catch it..). He needs to work on that, besides that, he was more or less ok yesterday..

Plus as you've said, the team doesn't help at all, they have to clear rebounds as fast and good as they can.. keep it out the area..

And what all this comes down to is as simple as he has zero confidence, perhaps can't handle the pressure and when you cant handle pressure and have no confidence you overplay the situations which makes him out of posision.. and then he's pretty much f***ed in todays NHL.

Are Zetterberg, Datsyuk and Holmstrom even in the line up tonight? I haven't heard their names and I sure haven't seen them contribute.

Hang in there, Jimmy. This is not on you. You have no team in front of you, and the Oils know it.

I'm reading this thread the day after because I knew I'd never survive staying human if I read it and responded as the game went on. I totally agree with what you say here, Loo. In the first period, Zetterberg and Datsyuk absolutely drove me bonkers with their passing. And passing. And passing!! And I can't believe ANY line out there got more than two-three shots during both those PP's. And no cycling; no rotation. WHAT THE HELL GIVES? AND WHY AM I SCREAMING AT YOU??!!

What is a matter with you folks? Why cant you admit that Howard is not good. This doesn't mean that he is the only bad player on the ice.

You are also wrong about goalies. Look at Craig Anderson - stopped 48 of 49 shots to get his team the win. Can you imagine if there were 50 shots on either of our goalies? Oh my god - but of course it wouldn't be the goal stoppers fault, hell no - it would be Rafalski, Stuart, etc.

This has to stem from not having really stellar goal tending for a good couple years now - at least in the regular season that is. That is the only thing I can think of that would cause this laughable refusal to admit Howard blows.

If you think both goalies suck, what's your suggestion right now for fixing this problem? And what's your suggestion for fixing the defense/team in front of the goalie so they come to play for 60 minutes?

He seemed pretty confident and strong in the third period and OT. Plus, his positioning has been an issue for some time. You just don't know, that's all.

I know alot more than you think, ******.

Some advice my friend... I've found that this board is no place for realistic points of view... most of the posters here are wide eyed optimists and homers. We are all fans of the wings this is true. BUT only a few of us on here are willing to call a spade a spade.

Howard has been ho hum since turing pro AHL/NHL... anyone looking at his play not his "potential" would realize his career potential is more like that of Norm Maracle than that of Chris Osgood. But that assumes the blinders are off and for most here they are super glued on.

Mindfly and realistic is an oxymoron.

Terrible example to prove your point.
