LOL @ Crosby's fight. He puts so much effort into his pathethic slashes and then as usual puts the other guys jersey over his head so he can't see. I wish he would try this on someone who has the jersey tied down.

Penguin's will 3 peat. They have the best player currently in the game(who knows were he will end up historically but he very well could be the most talented player in history), who keeps getting better in every phase of the game, a top 5 player, a great goalie, great coach and amazing depth. Injuries won't even harm them as long as they are missing all of their top 6 players.

WTF!? Bettman I told you to stay out of this damn forum.

Seriously though, "possibly the most talented player in history"

You have to be 18 or younger... Or just really love the media.

Pens just lost to the Worst team in the West. They're having a good streak to start, and while they appear to be the best or one of the best in the East, it's been proven many times that President's Trophies are not Stanley Cups.

I know, I know!! Maybe we jinxed 'em with our (OK, my) hype and praise. Maybe it's kind of like saying "shutout" over and over again. They too can be had, along with Crosby and his hissy level.

BWWUUUUEEEEEEEHAAAAAHAAAAAAA! (Think of the best scary laugh you've ever heard and that's what this sounds like, OK?)

The Pens look almost as unstoppable as the Sharks did this time last year.

I was thinking the exact same thing!

the conferences are pretty equal across the top, but the Western Conference has a bit more depth. At least on paper... perhaps by the end of the season some of the 5-8 seeds on the East will get a bit frisky.

The Pens will be there in contention... they are a really good team.

^^^ I have been thinking about the East vs West thing lately. I totally agree that the West has more depth and this is off topic but I think we are starting to see the effects of the salary cap. The teams are definitly starting to taper off and equal out. Which it is what it is. I can always laugh to myself that the only reason teams like Pitt are good now is because the leauge has changed all of it's ground rules to cater to crap teams. I sleep well at night knowing that the Pens (among others) would not be even a discussion pre lock-out. BAM

It happens in all the sporting leagues... for a while, the East in the NBA was horrible compared to the deep West, but now it's evening out. It happens in the NFL too. You're probably right that it is a function of the salary caps in the leagues, as it promotes a spreading of talent to everyone. But it still takes a good organization to make a good team. Look at the NFL... everyone complains of parity, but 8 teams are great and 8 teams are impossibly bad. Despite all the work to help the bad teams, badly led franchises will still be horribly bad.

The Penguins (to bring it somewhat back on subject) took great advantage of being a horrible team to stockpile great talent. Just about any mouthbreather would have been able to assemble their drafted core (Crosby/Malkin/Fleury/Stall). But the Penguins have become a good organization and a good team by assembling an excellent supporting cast for the corp.

I'm interested in seeing how the Pens do with Malkin out of the lineup. they seem to do well when Crosby misses time, but we haven't seen them do without Malkin as often.

Probably another team from the west.... which looking at the schedule shows Anaheim, LA and SJ coming up this week. Pitts is not the best agains the west... which lucky for them they play in the east.

Where is the "who's going to stop the Colorado Avalanche" thread? They're winning in the West which is a much stronger conference than the east.

The Avs are playing out of their minds this season (so far). Avs are more of threat than the Penguins, they've beat the Wings twice. Wings had already beat the Penguins (with the kids in the preseason none-the-less).

I wouldn't say they're really playing out of their minds, honestly. In their last few games their SOG has been really weak, and Anderson was saved by a number of posts when we played them the last time. A lot of it has just been bounces going their way.

Apparently the Kings??

They had four goals in the third period to beat the Pens 5-2.

Kopitar with 2 goals, Brown with a goal and an assist.

Everyone's favorite player had 0 points and was a -1, and 1 sog in over 20 minutes of ice time.

I knew the Kings would be better this season, but they're really suprising me with how consistent they've been.

Everyone's Favorite Player now has exactly 16 points in 16 games this year. As fatigued as some of the Wings are after two straight Cup final appearances, this kid's going to be exhausted by the time the Olympics roll around, let alone the playoffs.
