Theophany 110 Report post Posted November 4, 2009 Funny how the Wings have "fallen off" according to those brilliant Hawks fans and yet the Wings are a whole two points behind their powerhouse team. With all the new players, injuries, the flu, a trip to Sweden, five games out West ... and the Red Wings are two points out of first place. The Western Conference goes through Hockeytown. (I mean Detroit, the place where the best hockey is played). But MARIAN HOSSA will be back soon to carry them to the CUP FINALS. Nevermind that they won't win, but it'll be the furthest they've gotten in like 30-40 years!

They think they are so far ahead in the standing, yet we're only 2 points behind them despite all of our injuries and grueling road trip against the hottest teams in the league right now. Joe sells 19k+ tickets. How many are they selling?

skyphoenix 153 Report post Posted November 5, 2009 Do people really not get that its supposed to resemble a road sign? I thought that was pretty obvious. If you dont get that its a road sign, the No Limits part doesnt make sense either. As far as the Hawks go, jealousy goes a long way. Of course they wish that the Wings dominance was over (which it might be this year) but so far we are only 2 points behind Chicago and we have had our team tested pretty roughly already with 2 games against a very hot Colorado club that is leading the West and a week-long road trip to the West. Couple that with injuries to two of our top 9 forwards (one being top 3) and its not too bad to see this team at 6-4-3 right now.

AtomicPunk 296 Report post Posted November 5, 2009 And I think the "No Limits" bit means you don't have to LIVE in Hockeytown to be a Red Wings fan since they have so many fans all around the NHL. How many teams on the road sell out 'cause the Hawks are in town?
GoWings1905 2,694 Report post Posted November 5, 2009 This season, 20k+, last season 22k+ That just makes their "Wings are fairweather fans" line even more laughable. There used to be like 20 people at the United Center a few years ago when the Red Wings played there and 19 were rooting for the Wings.

Hockeytown0001 7,652 Report post Posted November 5, 2009 The Hawks attendance for the game in 2007 against Colorado where Toews scored the highlight reel goal was just under 9,000. They didn't begin to sell out until 2008 after years of averaging less than 15,000 fans per game. That's 7,000 unsold tickets. Usually when the Red Wings don't sell out, the attendance is set in the 19,000 plus range, meaning less than 1,000 went unsold. Pretty striking difference if you ask me. I wonder if the fact that before Wirtz passed on, the Hawks weren't even on TV in Chicago! I mean, how are they supposed to generate fan interest when they don't even play the games on TV? That was pretty pathetic that folks had to actually go to the game to watch it. Hell, if my team wouldn't even play their games on TV I'm not sure how much I'd be willing to support them $$ wise by buying tickets to the games. Just something to factor in when you all are knocking the Hawks for their poor attendance records.
