Neil flattens Hedman - then Fights Downie

It's still Hedmans fault.

He should never not expect someone is coming for you.

you've got to be kidding........ there are certain things you expect from your teammates, when they drop the ball and leave you out to dry - this does not make it YOUR fault...

so if a D-man pinches in getting horribly out of position and there is a 2 on 0 and they score, that goal is 100% the goalies fault?

Did you play hockey, other than adult leagues, ever?

this was more Niittymaki's fault for not communicating with him properly, or for running proper interference... Hedman was screend by Niittymaki and didn't have a chance...

Hedman has gotten rocked a few times this year, at different areas of the ice, he just isn't keeping his head up, he will learn soon enough

his head was clearly up here - yes, he will learn, but this was still a HUGE drop of the ball on the part of Niittymaki - hockey is a team game and there is a certain level of trust you put in your teammates to do certain things that they are expected to...

His head was down looking at the puck??? i don't know why you are so animate about this but Hedman should have been ready for Neil, no excuses, how do you know one of his teammates did say heads up and he jsut didn't hear it? The best thing for Hedman in this situation is to have his head up.

If any blame falls its on Hedman and Ohlund not on Nittymaki. He made the right play to come out and stop it for hedman who was circling behind the net. Before Hedman goes back he looks up and its gotta be hard to miss the bright red jersey skating parallel to him, to the right of the net. He knew Neil was in that area. Ohlund could have let him know, so some blame can fall on him. Hedman could have stopped and allowed Nittymaki to play it to him or up the boards. You can clearly see Hedman take a look. Hedman also loses control of the puck which keeps his head down for that extra second.

fair enough, I'll call it a combination of Ohlund and Niittymaki... and I'm not exonerating Hedman of all fault, I'm just saying that his teammates did not communicate with him like they should have, thus making this hit much worse than it should have been...

if he had his head up he wouldn't have been, do you understand that if you don;t want to be hit, don't skate staring at the puck?

as I said in a post above, I never said he was exonerated of all fault, but his teammates left him out to dry, making it worse than it should have been...

and no... you can't see through someone... that's what screened means...

But in the end, if he had his head up naturally like an NHL player should this wouldn't have happened....

he still would have been rocked... even with his head up... period.

the only difference is, it wouldn't have been AS dramatic.

Yep, I agree with Stevkrause. Hedman was hung out to dry by Ohlund. Not a big deal though, mistakes happen. Saying Hedman had his head down I don't agree with, several times he looked over his shoulder and saw the goalie in the way screening Neil. Good route and hit by Neil.

So back to the trapizoid, wouldn't use this video to say get rid of it, the goalie waited for it to come behind the net to stop it. Big deal so the goalie can't go into the corners. How many went in the first place. the two said here.

So do Stuart and Kronwall, there is nothing wrong with declining a fight after you rock someone, if anything it gets the other team off their game because they will have you on their mind instead of the game. But I hate Phaneuf because he is so overrated.

Yeah but Kronwall and Stuart have never been, and never will be legitimate fighters. During his first two seasons Phaneuf dropped the gloves quite a few times, now he literally skates away and hides behind his teammates, even though he is capable of standing up for himself.
