man, I miss Hossa.

and the Mule.

I was excited to see Helm and Leino get full time minutes this year but they just don't impress me at all.

Right when it looked like we were gettin' on track we drop a terrible game and lose a guy who's been pretty damn consistent for us.

Yeah, I'm still in awe that we put Quincey on waivers over Lebda. That just boggles the mind....

It's sadder that at the time Quincey couldn't outplay Meech or Lebda for a spot... then he goes to LA and plays out of his mind :( Talk about a mindf***.

Well, lost in all this is the fact the Leafs played a good game. The goalie was lights out and the team really galvanized once they had a lead to protect. They blocked a hundred shots and their PP was very sharp. Credit where it's due.

Ooh, that was catty. LOL

*meow*

Sorry, someone pissed in my Wheaties today... oh yeah, it was the entire Wings team just before they took a dump on the ice again and called it a hockey game. :(

This game took a turn in the first period when the Wings had a tremendous shift, keeping the puck in the Leafs zone with multiple scoring chances. It looked like a power play. Then Ericsson makes a bad pinch, Draper falls down as he trying to cover, leaving only Lebda back, who executes the perfect backwards screen, taking neither the player nor puck.

The puck ends up in our net in spite of the total domination just seconds before. How many times have we seen that happen already this season?

Glad to see people haven't forgotten the Quincey trade. I distinctly remember some esteemed members of this board arguing that moving Quincey was the right move because he wouldn't see ice time with the Wings anyway. Really?

I still remember and am spewing about the Robert Lang for Tomas Fleischmann trade. Flash scored 2 more goals tonight, 7 points (5 goals) in 6 games.

Not blaming osgood but the wings are the only team in the league who can't win games if they don't give 100% every night. The big saves just aren't there.. It also seems like lower ranked teams try extra hard against the wings and or the wings don't try hard enough against them.

I feel bad for Ozzie. Right when he got things on track the team in front of him takes a dump. I made some crazy good saves to keep the wings in it, but turn over after turn over...did we even get 20 shots on net? How many 3-1s did we give them? How many screens did Lebda create infront of Osgood? My god. I can't help but think 90% of the boad is going to blame Ozzie for this...I'm going to blame the D and the poor forechecking (created no pressure and made "the monsters" life easy).

Whateve...time to move on.

I'd have him room with Nick on the road. I'd have him sitting and watching fro

the press box, and taking notes on Nick. He'd then write post game reports with a theme of "what would Nick do?" Nah, f***it. I'd just tell Holland to trade him, buy him out, whatever to get him off the Wings. He's consistently terrible and we just can't afford that. I don't know what it is because if he could get his head straight he could be descent, but it's just not happening in Detroit. Getting Lilja back will be heavenly.

This.

Or abduct one of his kids and mail him the kid's left pinkie. Tell him he'll keep getting pieces in the mail until he starts playing like an NHL hockey player. :sly:

We outshot them 36 to 28... so, no, don't feel bad for ozzie..

Mind-boggling stat of the night:

Even-strength ice time for defensemen:

Jonathan Ericsson 16:05

Brett Lebda 15:33

Brad Stuart 15:07

Niklas Kronwall 13:44

Brian Rafalski 13:19

Nicklas Lidstrom 11:51

Why is Lebda playing that much more than Kronwall, Lidstrom, and Rafalski at even strength??

Honestly I wouldn't say he was lights out. He played a solid game, and the team played very well in front of him.

You're right that the Leafs deserve some credit here.

The Wings had more than a few chances handed to them. The gift from the refs with the terrible call on Ponikarovsky, then the gift from the Leafs with Too Many Men. But the Wings PP could barely muster a decent chance.

Just wanted to add yes there were big saves...but 3 on 1 = a goal most of the time, a goal 100% of the time when it's only Lebda and he's screening Ozzie. Ozzie did his part, the D and the poor forechecking is what killed us.

As I said in an other thread, you can't expect Ozzie to cover as much as the other goalies, especially the monster...(The guy is taller, if not almost, than Ozzie ON HIS KNEES). Ozzie is a small goalie...you have a 3 on 1 he can't just sit there...

Meh, I'm not going to explain...It's either Ozzie sucks or Ozzie didn't do anything to win the game. As I said before, I feel bad for the guy because of the fanbase.

If I had to guess, it probably is because he doesn't play a second of PK time (if it can be helped) and rarely on the PP either, so the only thing left is even strength.

Maybe Holland and Babs are looking for an excuse to keep him. I think they know now they aren't going to have one.
