Grand Rapids Griffins (7-4-0-0) @ Lake Erie Monsters (6-7-0-0)
3:00 pm EST

Tonight's Player in focus: Francis Pare

(Absolutely no rhyme or reason behind this!) Pare put up an impressive 24 goals and 48 points in his rookie AHL season, enough to get him a contract with Detroit. His play to start this season however has been underwhelming with zero goals and 3 points in 9 games. He did look good against Chicago though picking up an assist.

The Grand Rapids Griffins finally take to the road as they visit the Lake Erie Monsters. They will face Lake Erie again on the 11th back at home. Last years captain Darren Haydar is the Monsters main man as he leads their team in scoring with 4 goals and 10 points. The Griffins are on a six game winning streak while Lake Erie have dropped their past 2 games. The Griffins will be looking to improve on their 1-4 W/L record away from home.

The Griffins have recorded 6 straight wins, all at home, and will be full of confidence heading into this evening's game. Cory Emmerton has been impressive of late and is on a 3 game point streak (2-2-4). Evan McGrath meanwhile has registered a point in 6 of the past 7 games as he stakes a claim to be called up by Detroit. Kris Newbury is also on a 4 game point streak. McCollum is expected to start tonight.

Projected lines:

Axelsson - McGrath - Tardif
Ritola - Newbury - Mursak
Vigilante - Emmerton - Pare
Tatar - Rismiller - Williams

Janik - Kindl
Delmore - Pyett
Ehrhardt - Kolosov

(Piche)

McCollum
Larsson

Individual Leaders:

Goals: Williams, Tardif (5), Mursak (4)
Assists: Newbury (6), Janik, Nylander (5)
Points: Newbury (9), Tardif, McGrath (7)
PIM: Newbury (58), Crosty (32)
Plus/Minus: Emmerton (+5), Tatar, Ehrhardt, Janik, Rissmiller (+3)

Past 5 Games:

5-4 Win vs. Chicago (Nov 6 2009) Final
3-1 Win vs. Houston (Oct 30 2009) Final
2-0 Win vs. Houston (Oct 29 2009) Final
6-1 Win vs. Abbotsford (Oct 25 2009) Final
4-3 Win vs. Toronto (Oct 24 2009) Final SO

First game away from home in a while, they better keep this hot streak going.

Got FSD setup with all it's glory.  Plan to have pre and post game coverage along with Wingspan and 24/7.  Youtube page: RedWingsLive1

First night in weeks I won't have to work when Gr is playing so hopefully there will be a stream. With a quick glance at the point totals it would appear that there isn't a single player making a big offensive impact which is disappointing considering the hopes for some due to hype or strong previous seasons.

Pretty passive PK right now as well as weak passes on the PP.

Griffins down 0-2 as the Monsters score 2 on the PP.

Shots 15-6 in favor of the Griffins right now and somehow they're down 0-2.

Griffins looked a little tentative this afternoon. It's alright though. 0-2, they got 2 periods to work they're way back into the game.

Williams!!!

Another great pass by Newbury! What a 2nd period.

Edit: It wasn't Ritola. But he was parked in Holmstrom's spot. Good stuff.

Does he really?

Ever since I saw this picture it made me raise an eyebrow about him.

To quote Seinfeld, "Not that there's anything wrong with that."

LOL

I doubt he does, I bet it was just some of the camera people messing around. It is in Lake Erie's barn.

Man... Kindl looks pretty average.

The penalties are insane for this game. Seems like they're really experimenting with calls.

Yeah I didn't see that. I'm watching FSN Ohio. Although maybe they showed that while I was making lunch.
