Motown4013 350 Report post Posted November 17, 2009 Actually I'm cautious of the results the last three games yielded. We slaughtered Columbus, but lets face it: the BJ's didn't show up for that one. The game vs Vancouver was really sloppy and I was expecting to walk away with 0 points going into the third, but kudos to them for grinding out a win. The game against the Ducks was nice in terms of special teams, but was otherwise evenly matched until the waning minutes of that game. When you ask "Are the Wings back?" in some regard I want to say no and they won't be for a while because I don't think this team is built to dominate other teams without putting in 100% every night. Otherwise I would say the Wings are back because they are learning how to win games with the lineup they do have. I kinda think that this is just hockey. The Vancouver game is a prime example...they outshot and outplayed us and we won. There have been games this year that we dominated and ended up loosing, so it all works out in the wash. We have looked much more confidence and that has really helped up- guys are skating and he have gotten solid goaltending. considering the depth we have lost to injury, i have been impressed

thedatsyukian 7 Report post Posted November 17, 2009 3 Ingredients to a slow start. Best players being injured for the whole preseason. Starting the season in another country. Best players being injured early in the season.
One4TheWings 11 Report post Posted November 17, 2009 We're absolutely back. ... until we lose. Then we're back out of the playoffs. This is the natural order of things at LGdub.
OsGOD 3 Report post Posted November 17, 2009 (edited) until they lose again... yes they are back. then once they lose a single game the boards acting like a bunch of bafoons will the be back too! didn't even see this on page 2! We're absolutely back. ... until we lose. Then we're back out of the playoffs. This is the natural order of things at LGdub. I obviously concur Edited November 17, 2009 by OsGOD
MCleveland89 122 Report post Posted November 18, 2009 The Wings have never really had a good start. Plus, with so many injuries from top players so early in the season, you had to see it coming. I'd rather have them injured now than during the playoffs. Let's just hope the universe let's it happen like that.

Electrophile 3,554 Report post Posted November 24, 2009 I hope everyone remembers this thread the next time the Wings lose 2 in a row to some crappy teams. Suddenly we're gonna suck again, everyone is lazy and should be traded and our entire coaching staff and front office should be drawn & quartered, after they're fired. Well we didn't lose two in a row but we have lost a couple games recently that we should have won, tonight included. Funny how my prediction here turned out to be damn near accurate. Just look at the GDT tonight. Lots of "we suck" and other variations on a theme. I hate being right sometimes. Either that or people here are just too predictable. RedWingsRox 614 Report post Posted November 24, 2009 No, we're NOT back. We are destined to be a 6th, 7th, 8th team this year at best.
Yzerfan1999 81 Report post Posted November 24, 2009 4 lousy games in a row. The Wings are not back - but they are not done either.

I only make comment toward the "we suck" crowd when it's not warranted. The Wings are not playing to their potential right now, but we've been crippled by injuries. I wouldn't say that we suck. It's not like we have a full team out there and are playing like this. If it tickles your pickle to call that "holier than thou", go for it.

SouthernWingsFan 854 Report post Posted November 24, 2009 Williams is OUT, Detroit is BACK... Willams was doing neither great/bad, and he was doing better than a lot of other players before he got injured. And being happy that somebody got injured is chicken s**t.
