Yak19 303 Report post Posted November 28, 2009 I've officially put the tinfoil hat on. I know it happens a disallowed goal here and there, maybe to one team here and another somewhere else in the league but the same team getting 3 goals disallowed in 4 games!!??!!!! Something is definitely not right. I know we lack a scoring touch right now (to say the least) but when we actually do score to have it not count time after time wtf??!! That all being said the Calgary Flames are cake, we dominated the play for 50 minutes of the game with 5 starters out including our best offensive d-man (thus far), our 2nd line center and Johan effing Franzen. Osgood was awful tonight and that didn't help anything. Find the scoring touch.... NOW! GO WINGS!!
Dr. Sapirstein 0 Report post Posted November 28, 2009 (edited) Now how can we be more pathetic than this? It seems like we never got over from losing game 6 and 7 in the Cup final... Edited November 28, 2009 by Dr. Sapirstein
VM1138 1,921 Report post Posted November 28, 2009 Missed the game, but I don't see how a team with Datsyuk and Zetterberg, supported by Cleary, Lidstrom, Rafalski, can't score goals? I mean, all other considerations aside, even without Franzen and Flip, how are we not scoring any goals? Datsyuk and Z are world class players who should be able to score at will. Tons of terrible teams have a single superstar that tears up the charts, we have two bonafide world class superstars who just can't score? What the hell is going on? Doc Holiday 0 Report post Posted November 28, 2009 Couldn't Osgood have gotten an empty net goal or something? This guy is just dragging the team down.
RedWingsRox 614 Report post Posted November 28, 2009 Damn ... if we don't at least get one point tomorrow, we're going to drop another spot in the Western Conference. Who would have ever guess that we would be in fourth spot in the Western Conference ... from the bottom?

canadian wings fan 305 Report post Posted November 28, 2009 Ville Leino- 3 ******* points last 17 GP Todd Bertuzzi- 1 A last 8 GP Tomas Holmstrom- Pointless in 7 These 3 are expected offensively and have been ******* useless. I am so upset with Ville Leino....he's on pace for 17 points. What a dissapointment. Obviously no one has been good lately offensively but I'm worred with Datsyuk, we all know he doesn't have the right linemates but he should still be able to be netting points either on the PP or by himself... Someone needs to step up tommorow!!!!!!!! Also I like Jimmy Howard more than Chris Osgood this season. I feel much more confident with Howard, kinda sad. We're in trouble here boys. interminded 1 Report post Posted November 28, 2009 It's a long time ago that I saw the Wings play this helpless and clueless. This was pathetic performance... if you can call it a performance. They were skating in each other's way, there was no sign of even the most basic of structures in offense or defense and let's not say we ran into a hot goalie who turned aside 40 shots.. These weren't shots.. powerless wristshots from 30-40 feet away ? Are you kidding me ? This was one of the easiest shutouts in Kipper's career. You can shoot 80 shots on goal like this... none of them is going to hit the net. Everyone needs to step up, literally e-v-e-r-y-o-n-e ! Of course Ozzie could have been a tad sharper, Lidstrom should have scored by now, Datysuk is in a rough spot right now and we have a couple of injuries ... STILL.. this team has still too much quality to be shut out twice in a row.
Sgt. Angry 23 Report post Posted November 28, 2009 Now how can we be more pathetic than this? It seems like we never got over from losing game 6 and 7 in the Cup final... I think you're on to something, Doc. I don't know if the players didn't get over it, but my level of enthusiasm for watching the NHL took a dive from the whole Crosby - Malkin playoff debacle last season. It makes me wonder if the players do have a little bit of the "what's the use?" attitude? I know that I have that attitude as a fan. Maybe not how a "real fan" should feel, but it is making it easier to stomach this current bad stretch.

Finnish Wing 110 Report post Posted November 28, 2009 Osgood needs to play better simple as that. I'm not "hating" him or anything. But his just has not given the wing's a chance to win.You can't win if you don't score goals.
Carman 387 Report post Posted November 28, 2009 You can't win if you don't score goals. Not arguing that. But when a team is fighting for confidence letting in bad goals is not helping.
puckloo39 5,686 Report post Posted November 28, 2009 You can't win if you don't score goals. they do need to do better on the scoring, but in fairness, it has to be discouraging to have the officials waive off goal after goal. Last night was just another example of this trend. The Wings will come out of this fine. It's just really hard to watch right now.
Third Man In 2,091 Report post Posted November 28, 2009 You can't win if you don't score goals. The Wings are empirically testing this principle.

When you feel like you are being cheated, it's hard to keep your intensity up, even if you are making a lot of money. When you are in the heat of battle, you are not thinking about money. Doc Holiday 0 Report post Posted November 28, 2009 Not arguing that. But when a team is fighting for confidence letting in bad goals is not helping. And I'm sure the goaltender feels like he needs to be completely perfect every night when the team in front of him doesn't know what a goal is.
Carman 387 Report post Posted November 28, 2009 And I'm sure the goaltender feels like he needs to be completely perfect every night when the team in front of him doesn't know what a goal is. I'd be giving that goalie the benefit of the doubt if it didn't happen every game and he isn't in the top 25 for any statistical category for his position. Osgood is just another Red Wing that isn't playing his best right now that's all.
clutchngrab 12 Report post Posted November 28, 2009 OK...who do you trade tho. No one until the trade deadline and then Holland will get Rafalski to waive his no-trade and ship him off to a playoff team.

Osgood is just another Red Wing that isn't playing his best right now that's all. Not for nothin', but in the last SIX games that Osgood has played, the Wings have scored SEVEN goals. That's right....SEVEN. That averaged out to an average of 1.17 GPG. And Oz has still managed to pull out FIVE points of a possible twelve, when his Team hasn't scored more than TWO goals in ANY of his past six Starts. Conversely? In Howard's last six games, the Wings have scored TWENTY THREE goals. Yep....Twenty three. That's an average of 3.83 GPG. Quite a difference. There have been only TWO of Howard's last six Games where the Team in front of him scored LESS THAN THREE. How many points did they earn in those two games? ZERO. Ozzie hasn't been as sharp has he SHOULD be, but he's FAR from the problem.
