skyphoenix 153 Report post Posted December 4, 2009 Bertuzzi, Cleary, Leino, Zetterberg, and Abdelkader looked pretty good from what I saw. Datsyuk is not playing like Datsyuk no matter who he is playing with.

Sgt. Angry 23 Report post Posted December 4, 2009 OK, I'm not going to exactly be Mr. Optimism here, but, due to the schedule, and to how the Wings are playing, it looks like the Wings will be able to personally help Brodeur tie Terry Sawchuk for the shutout record. I'm sure that with this hanging over their heads, the Wings will come out really firing and -- er -- yeah, right - where have we heard this before?
Statts 4 Report post Posted December 4, 2009 (edited) The only reason this organization hasn't "rushed" prospects in the past is because we haven't had to. We've always had a steady flow of players working their way into the lineup who have demonstrated the ability to score goals. At this point in time, those players are non-existant. If Kenny doesn't want to mortgage the future via trade, why not utilize what we have? Give Tatar a few games and see what he can do. If he flourishes, he stays. If he flounders, he gets sent right back to where he was. The players in this lineup clearly can't score enough goals to win hockey games on a regular basis, so where is the harm in bringing up a guy like Tomas? Tatar is not the answer to the Wings problems. Sorry to have to break it to ya. Edit: I just think you are overreacting. SliderJeff 11 Report post Posted December 4, 2009 Memo to TIVO: Thank you VERY much for the amazing feature of fast forward. This way, once I saw the abortion that was this game unfolding when it became 3-1, I could just zoom through the remainder of the game and watch EDM score again and then just watch the clock piss away until the end of the game in the blink of an eye. No analysis. No excuses. No BS. Just pure suck. So much for Howard looking like a winner and gaining confidence. How the hell he missed that third goal, I'll never know. Nillson made everyone look stupid on the second goal. Lebda solidified his position on the Altar Of s***dom with the first goal. I never saw the fourth goal, and I'm probably glad. This team just makes me want to watch the movie "7even"... since it's a feel good movie compared to what I'm witnessing on the ice most nights this season. If the Devils look as bad as they did last night against the 'nucks, we're sure to lose by 10. If they look as good as they have all year, we'll only lose by 1. Probably 1-0, since we've got all the game of Steve Urkel these days. *sigh* *$#@!
Z and D for the C 712 Report post Posted December 4, 2009 (edited) ^ LOL I just did the same thing, except I still had hope at 3-1, didn't fast forward until 4-1. Then at 10 minutes left of the third I knew the wings wouldn't score so I just checked NHL.com. This defense is horrible. VM1138 1,921 Report post Posted December 4, 2009 Someone summarize for me: Aside from the total suckfest, Kindl looked good and Bertuzzi is a beast again? Once again, I smell a trade coming the way injuries are decimating this team.

ben_usmc 253 Report post Posted December 4, 2009 (edited) Will this ever be forgotten? no and it shouldn't be, yes all of us maybe armchair GMs but I'm pretty sure 98% of the people on this board knew Quincey was better then those ******* scrubs. Also yes bring Tatar up he couldn't possibly hurt the team. Edited December 4, 2009 by ben_usmc

dragonballgtz 273 Report post Posted December 4, 2009 He lead the Wings in even strength ice time up until his injury and was still a 0+/-. He was in on the only goal of the game (passed it to Lids) and set-up to beautiful chances that the other guy whiffed on. Overall he gets 0 PP time but is 3rd in defensive pts and 2nd in defensive scoring. He's on pace for the best rookie year, in terms of points, of a Wings d-man since Lidstrom. He averages 1 turn-over a game-- the same as Lidstrom, Stuart and Kronwall and less than Rafalski. He's on the 1st PK and is currently playing alongside Lidstrom for 26 mins a night without seeing his turnovers or +/- suffer from the increased ice time. Honestly-- go buy a clue. Edit-- removed the insult I opened the post with. He has still been making bad plays and turnovers. He has not been all that good on D IMHO

Also yes bring Tatar up he couldn't possibly hurt the team. No, you didn't know because you didn't see him in training camp and didn't have an expert opinion on his performance in relation to his peers now did you? Everyone acts like Quincey is the second coming because his offense grew higher with more ice time and powerplay minutes. Get over it already. Quincey did well in other places and Detroit management did what was the best decision for them at the time. Sometimes decisions don't work out the way you plan them, but that's how any business works. Suck it up and move on for f***s sake.

hokike 1 Report post Posted December 4, 2009 there is no saviours from grand rapids....and pleas no" that X from GR is better than Lebda or meech", then why those arguably "better players" are not able to beat "sucking players" during training camp for roster spot? this current roster is on the way of missing POs, healthy roster has a chance in POs... Aussie_Wing 354 Report post Posted December 4, 2009 Okay so I was out all day, pumped about Kindl's debut, someone informs me he was -2 so I was stressing the whole time wondering whether he was to blame. Thankfully I've seen the highlights and maybe other than a slight mistake on goal 2, he didn't do anything wrong. Phew! Lebda, Meech= fail. How bad were the turnovers? Howard let in some awful goals but judging by the highlights, the team absolutely hung him out to dry with an inspid performance. Seriously some of those turnovers were horrendous. Carman 387 Report post Posted December 4, 2009 Wow first game I've missed all season, glad I missed it. At least Bertuzzi was in 100% of the teams scoring tonight . Saw a few highlights, was Ericsson injured before or after that horrendous defensive effort on the Nilsson goal? I believe it was after, but that's a mistake that's very very costly. It's one thing to misplay a puck, or make a bad pass. But he looked like a forward on that one. PLAY THE BODY BIG RIG. Howard didn't seem to have a great game, but it doesn't look like he had much help if any. Oh and people calling for Tatar. Please please no. He hasn't been doing anything that extraordinary for an AHL prospect. It's just he is so young that's all. He's all about potential, not actual substance at least not yet. Give him at least half a year before you proclaim him as anything more than a promising prospect.

Carman 387 Report post Posted December 4, 2009 I agree we shouldn't call him up but 9 points in 5 games IS extraordinary for an AHL prospect. Oh agree. It's great for a prospect. But players like darren haydar make their careers doing it without getting a call up. All I was saying is a hot streak like that shouldn't automatically grant him a call up.
