edicius 3,269 Report post Posted December 6, 2009 Yeah, Facebook. That's really my only source for this right now, but I was curious if anyone else had saw this elsewhere and if there's any validity to it (thus, its proper location in the Rumor Mill). VM1138 1,921 Report post Posted December 6, 2009 No idea about the validity, but it wouldn't surprise me. The KHL is pretty smarmy like that. Man, wouldn't that just be fitting the trend this season if Flip bolted overseas?

FinRedWing 172 Report post Posted December 7, 2009 (edited) Nothing in Finnish media.. They can always offer, but there's not a Finn in his right mind who'd go over to Russia and play, if he's already making $3mil/a season and gets to play for the powerhouse team in the best league of the world.. cupforwings 138 Report post Posted December 7, 2009 hopefully not... but i think Filpula knows that he is about to get a chance to be one of the top guys on and elite NHL team, unlike Hudler... Hudler just wanted to be Datsyuk, but he didn't have the ability in the NHL to that, so he left... this has got to be crap

Hudler just wanted to be Datsyuk, but he didn't have the ability in the NHL to that, so he left... this has got to be crap 1)Hudler just wanted to be Datsyuk? Wtf do you mean by this, you are acting like this is an unwanted charactersitic of a hockey player. I assume you mean he tried to rely on talent alone, but if you meant that just say it, seeing as when you compare him to wanting to play like Datsyuk, I envision an elite forward with the best two-way game in the league... if people are flaming that now, then I guess I am watching the wrong team... 2)Hudler didn't have the ability? You realize he is only 24 right? Datsyuk's 24 Year old season- 11 goals 24 assists- 35 points in 70 GP -Played with Brett Hull the vast majoirty of the year on the 2nd line, and was on the 2nd powerplay unit which contained the likes of Hull and Robaitallie Jiri Hudler's 24 year old Season- 23 goals, 34 assists- 57 Points in 80 GP ON THE THIRD/FOURTH ******* LINE AVERAGING LESS THAN 14 MINUTES A GAME, FOR GOD SAKES HIS REGULAR SHIFT LINEMATES WERE HELM AND DOWNEY FOR THE MAJORITY OF THE SEASON .... but oh wait, Hudler was on the 2nd power play unit, and small, so it is inexcusable to score less then 80 pts as a 24 year old 3rd year player. I am not arguing that Hudler is better than Datsyuk, but to say he did not have the talent to succeed in the NHL is ludicrous, especially seeing as his 3rd year in the league at the tender age of 24 saw him put up more points then Franzen had until he was almost 30 and more then Filpulla most probably ever will. I definitely agree with you. I dont understand the Hudler bashing on this site. I think he was a very important part of this team. The only thing I disagree with is when you said he was playing with Helm and Downey. That' jsut untrue.

The majority part was said for effect, but he definatly spent more time on the 4th line than the 1st, and for a stretch of 15 games he did have to play with Downey

hockey&beer 16 Report post Posted December 7, 2009 If you look at Hudler's stats, his production decrease when his TOI increased. He was effective playing against the 3rd/4th line of the opposition but up against the big boys he just couldn't do it.

cupforwings 138 Report post Posted December 7, 2009 (edited) My point was that hudler wanted to be the go to guy and he knew he couldnt be that on the wings. He said that. In no way am I arguing anything negative about hudler, other than the fact that he wanted a bigger role, which is fine. He was a very good third line player uM point must not have been clear Edited December 7, 2009 by cupforwings

He was effective playing against the 3rd/4th line of the opposition but up against the big boys he just couldn't do it. This is true, but the whole reason he was bumped up the second line last year for the 10-15 game slide was because if I recall the whole second line wasent clicking. The point of the matter is 60 points is better than most 2nd liners, and he did it on the third line. Personally I think it's unfair to use a stretch of 15 game where his points per time of ice went down (not significantly though) due to fact that he had to gel with new linemates who werent playing too hot either. Either way, I agree. Hudler was a big part of our team. Money aside, he was one of my favourite prospects in recent memory and I still would welcome him back next year or the year after if he chose to return to the NHL. KrazyGangsta 79 Report post Posted December 10, 2009 Why so much bashing for Hudler. This this more good then bad. Hudler could potentially develop into being a better player + saved us cap issues this year and I'm sure he will be back to the Wings once his contract is finished. All tho if KHL offers him a major contract which I wouldn't blame him to cash in. Why not take advantage if there giving you an opportunity to make $$$. He wanted to have a major pay for a couple of years then he shall be back trust me.
