Obviously this is a D-Mac love fest here. I can't really say i feel the same.

Came back in 08' just soon enough to earn another decent pay check to save his ass. It's a shame he luckily got into the Stanley Cup Finals game 1 and even got his name on the Cup.

^

can you say jackass?

In the spring of 2008 I found a Darren McCarty jersey in a second hand shop. I didn't care how much they wanted for it, I was bound and determined that it would be mine. I got it for 13 bucks.

That fall, I took it with me to training camp, somehow hoping that he might be there. Lo and behold, he was. I got him to sign the jersey, my hubby took a very nice picture of the two of us together, and I felt lucky that I was able to talk to him for a couple minutes. He was gracious, kind and very sweet.

That is the memory I will take of him with me.

I wish you good spaces, my friend...wherever the journey takes you, go with a cheerful heart, knowing that you will always be loved.

I had to get mine custom made by the people that make the damn jerseys for the Wings in Detroit almost exactly a year ago. Now that's authentic, and a pain in the ass.

He needs to get in the broadcast booth ASAP. He is a character, unlike a lot of the other drones or imbeciles that occupy it. He should either

A) Go to Versus (what ever happened with that anyway?)

B) Take over Murphy's job on FSD

1. McCarty is too good to be put in with those jackasses. I hate Versus.

2. I would love to see him take Murphy's place. All Murph does is state the most obvious things. "If they would have shot the puck more, they would have had more scoring chances." Really dumbass?

I notice they support his foundation's cause, the fight against multiple myeloma. McCarty Cancer Foundation

I think people easily forget how much players like Darren give, off the ice, and on it.

Best of luck, indeed. Hope to see him soon, in some capacity with the Wings organization.

Wow, bitter much?

Murph is good as a color man (between the benches) and compliments Ken and Mickey pretty well. It's frustrating to watch him when he makes his long speeches between periods, but other than that he is fine.

Most color analysts do what you just said...

Enjoyed you here in Detroit all those years Darren. Now go enjoy retirement, or get a job I don't care!

P.S. They'll NEVER retire his jersey. Get over it...

like people said earlier not raise it to the rafters just do like what they did with vladdy

Did McCarty get into a career ending injury and become the reason we won a cup?

McCarty did a lot by turning his life around but he should not be considered in the same tier as guys like Vladdy and Fischer. McCarty actually finished out his career and his hiatus was because of himself.
