New York Islanders defenceman Brendan Witt was hit by a car in Philadelphia on Tuesday, according to Newsday. But Witt reportedly picked himself up off the road and, after a few profanities, assured everyone he was all right before continuing on his way, prompting one witness to say, "it was like seeing Clint Eastwood, but in hockey."

I've had a similar experience xD but he's in infinitely better shape than I was just playing volleyball in high school.

He'll be sore, but as long as it was a lower speed collision he'll just be rockin' the mental advantage over his opponents.

Considering if I tripped walking to the bathroom I would use it as an excuse to get off work, makes him pretty tough. Although if his job was to sit at a desk for 10 hours for $65,000 a year instead of playing Pro Hockey for a lot more might change things too!

The only thing I worry about is that he doesn't wind up catching the flu, mono, etc while he's recovering. His body will expend so many resources to repair any tissue damage, bruising, etc that he'll be left more vulnerable to getting sick.

I wound up with a 3-week case of strep throat while my body was trying to recoup its losses in the bruising on my leg/hip when I got into my accident. Hopefully his musculature will prevent too much of that happening.

Who was it on the Detroit Tigers team that hurt himself play, of all things, Guitar Hero? Nate Robinson? One of the silliest ways to get injured was what I though when I heard about that. Or how about Inge (?) screwing up his shoulder from adjusting the pillow his little kid was sleeping on? It just goes to show that you can hurt yourself doing mundane things in life

I just remembered Legace tripping on Palin's carpet last year, I think it was, and he didn't finish the game. Or Joe Sakic's snowblower injury.

We should make bets on who get hurt and how mundane or silly the mechanism of the injury was, like Legace's injury .
