Branton87 77 Report post Posted December 10, 2009 I'm quite disappointed with tonight's game. This whole season has been disappointing. Columbus is tied with us in points yet again from their win tonight. How is it that we get a point from the Devils game, we beat San Jose, and we annihilate Columbus but we can't beat teams like St Louis half of the time or even the Leafs this year!? I just don't understand it. /venting

Cern 0 Report post Posted December 10, 2009 We lost 1-0? Seriously? What's most fustrating is that with all the injuries, there's not really much of anything that can be done to shake up the team in a significant way until some of them return.

Vladifan 680 Report post Posted December 10, 2009 And getting paid 3 million less All I'm saying is Lidstrom needs to play better. There is no reason 57 defensemen are producing more then him. I can accept decline, but not this much of it. OK, I haven't seen the game yet, but who the hell doesn't need to play better on this team? Who the hell doesn't need to coach better? Meanwhile, you have no clue as to whether Lidstrom is playing injured or not but you have found it absolutely necessary to find him Not Worthy to the point of counting how many defenseman are "playing better", while you defend other really average players against any and all comers. You "can accept decline, but not this much of it."....What do you plan to do about that? You have some healing powers we're not aware of? Maybe work a miracle or two and get some of our injured guys back sooner? Conjure up more money for trades? Be our guest! GO for it!! Otherwise, some of your statements sound really silly, puffy and arrogant.
RedWingsRox 614 Report post Posted December 10, 2009 Damn ... we lost again. Not even one point! But looking at the stats, once again, opposing goalie stood on his head 42 SOG and a shutout ... what can you do? Wish it was us who got the better of Conks but it was the other way around. If Bert's goal would have counted, then this would have been a different result. Disappointed but not pissed off.
Carman 387 Report post Posted December 10, 2009 (edited) *my one serious post* Don't get me wrong I completely understand there isn't a person maybe besides Howard who is playing decent right now. It was said that Lidstrom is declining and we should expect it. That's where I disagree, I believe Lidstrom from being a Norris candidate last year to not being in the top 50 shouldn't be "expected". Our best players need to be our best players. Simple as that. No excuse for our first PP unit to not score. Injuries hold no significant role in that specific aspect of the game. Obviously none of us hold any influence over anything that happens with the Wing's, the only thing under our control is to discuss our opinions on certain situations regarding the team. I disagreed with someone's opinion that Lidstrom is declining and we should of expected it. Don't see what the deal is. Echolalia 2,961 Report post Posted December 10, 2009 You don't deserve to win when your shot selection is atrocious and the quality chances you DO get glide over the top of the net. The Wings deserved to lose tonight. Powerplay is ridiculously bad for all the 'so called' talent. You must not have seen the two posts, the near-goal breakaway, or the tic-tac-toe play at the very beginning of the game. But that's the way the game goes, sometimes. cprice12 117 Report post Posted December 10, 2009 If you can't beat the Blues you can't beat anyone in this league. Then I guess the Wings won't be beating anyone...seeing as the Blues have taken 7 of 8 pts. from Detroit so far this season. However, the Blues offense has struggled mightily this season, and their power play has been horrendous. But they play stingy defense and have gotten excellent goaltending, which is why they are over .500. If the Blues ever get their offense on track to where they are scoring three or four goals a game like most people thought they would, this team would be extremely tough to beat...until then, they have to rely on the defense and goaltending, and that might keep them above .500, but it won't send them on any long win streaks or see them finishing in the top 4 or 5 in the conference. The Blues may need to make a trade to acquire a "top 10" goal scorer...or possibly fire Andy Murray since St. Louis has underachieved this year. We'll see. That is exactly what i implied by the comment. Way to crack the code. Your team is absolute piss, our offense just doesn't know how to score at the moment. I don't know how 2 points were awarded tonight, we deserve to lose because we took 42 shots and did not score and failed to produce anything on countless PP oppurtunities and the blues deserve to lose because they were outplayed and outworked. Nice MELTDOWN there!! Blues are 11 - 11 - 3 against Detroit in the last 3 years. Look it up if you do not believe it. .500 AGAINST AN ABSOLUTE PISS TEAM MAKES YOU WHAT THIS YEAR? Wings are playing horrible or at least are horrible at finding the back of the net at the moment, the loss to the poos last night shows it. We are playing like piss, you are piss. Blues are never going anywhere, we completely outworked your team with 5 regulars out including our most productive dman this year, Franzen and our 2nd line center. Take the flucky win and shut it. Guest mindfly Report post Posted December 10, 2009 Might be a shocking thought for some, but i was thinking that maybe the players are really tired of babcock and the coaching staff and a change could do wonders for this struggling team? He has been here since the lockout this is the 5th season thats pretty long time, lets do what penguins did last year and just bring a new solid coach here, babcock run has been good but a team can only have the same coach and system for so long, now when there are obvious fundamental problems within the team a coaching change often helps

Look it up if you do not believe it. .500 AGAINST AN ABSOLUTE PISS TEAM MAKES YOU WHAT THIS YEAR? And your little stat means ... what, exactly? Those last three years would be years in which the Wings either 1) won the Cup, 2) came within a game of winning the Cup, or 3) went to the conference finals. Those three years also would be years during which the Blues achieved absolutely nothing - which pretty much explains the history of the franchise, no? (And spare us the BS about the Blues "glory" years of making the rigged finals in the late 60s.) Few things are more amusing than when Blues fans show up here with the latest manifestation of their Wings-obsessed inferiority complex.
Opie 308 Report post Posted December 10, 2009 Carman, Because you label one post serious doesn't make the others less trollish. What is your point in all of this crap? You may call it sarcasm, but you are baiting people into arguments that are obviously meant to derail the thread and turn it into a dats ***** fest. Why are some posters given such leniency and others held to such a strict code of posting? Back on topic: The whole team was meh last night. They showed signs of putting it together and right at the moment I thought they would be able to get it going, some one passes to the vacated point, or makes a dumb blind pass through the slot that has our forwards going towards the net and the puck and the other team going the other direction. Why are some posters given such leniency and others held to such a strict code of posting? My whole point was to express my disappoint in our best players. That's all. I have not seem Lidstrom play this bad in 16 years, Datsyuk hasn't played consistently well for a long time and it's not a comfortable feeling. That's all I'm trying to get across. As for your reasons for your sarcasm, there's no ego, arrogance or one-upsmanship involved there, is there.

We're getting good goaltending, lately the PK and defense have been quite good for the most part. No coach in the world could make Lebda into a Norris Candidate, Helm into a 20 goal scorer, Leino into a physical beast and Lidstrom a couple of years younger. Babcock is doing what he can with the material we have right now. Babs has taken this team to the SCF two years in a row. Now you want him fired because the Wings are not a top-seed despite their 5 million injuries?
