GMRwings1983 8,804 Report post Posted December 10, 2009 Zetterberg has been amazing this season, apart from the first few games when he was still trying to get going after the groin trouble. 10 goals in almost 30 games is not amazing. Many people here think of him as a 40 or potentially 50 goal scorer as was evidenced in offseason threads. He's disappointed this year, even though he's been our best forward. He just looks good compared to our other forwards statistically.
uk_redwing 495 Report post Posted December 10, 2009 Good thing we've got another hard working player to replace him in Leino Jesus. Call someone up from Grand Rapids. Theres plenty of guys down there that will add a bit of spark: Williams, Newbury, Tardif, Tatar...list is endless. Far better options than Leino.
datsyukismyfriend 4 Report post Posted December 10, 2009 Zetterberg has been amazing this season, apart from the first few games when he was still trying to get going after the groin trouble. i wouldn't say amazing. he's at a ppg pace, which is good, but not amazing. he's on pace for 27 or 28 goals, again, good, but not "amazing." You're probably one of the ones who thought leino would have a 50 point season.
Branton87 77 Report post Posted December 10, 2009 Why couldn't Meech have been the one to get injured instead of Cleary? :/

Datsyuk2Zetterberg 1 Report post Posted December 10, 2009 babs better not split up the ZDH line, give them at ealst another 2 games, they seemed ok yesterday a side from a few wide open nets

skyphoenix 153 Report post Posted December 10, 2009 I don't know how Zetterberg is disappointing people right now. He is one of the only players you can watch every night and see that he's giving 100% on every shift. He has looked great, point production or not.
CupChamps979802 35 Report post Posted December 10, 2009 Damnitt... After every injury, you think it can't get any worse, and then somehow it does. This team is going to make it through this and be better because of it.
Third Man In 2,091 Report post Posted December 10, 2009 I worry that this is putting too much too soon on the shoulders of our kids. But Helm, Abdelkader, Howard, Meech, and yes Leino will have to really step up in a way they weren't expected to for this team to pull through. It could make them develop rapidly, or it could stunt their growth. Get well soon Danny (...and Franzen, Flip, Kronners, Lilja, Williams, and anyone else who is nursing injuries but have to play through them now.)
Detroit # 1 Fan 2,204 Report post Posted December 10, 2009 There goes any shot Danny had at the Olympics . Worse then that, we lose 7 goals, and big minutes on the PP and PK. Leino will just come back in and float around, I'd rather see someone from GR up, at least they'd play hard. Man, I hate to sound negative, but we're just not good enough with all these guys out, if we cant score a goal against St Louis of all teams, what are we gonna doo... All that withstanding, if we by some hand of god make the playoffs, it'll be a miracle and no top seed will want to play us.

He is one of the only players you can watch every night and see that he's giving 100% on every shift. He has looked great, point production or not. Yeah some people just seem to watching the statistics on NHL.com instead of the actual games. 30 points in 30 games is not bad, but he has looked much better than his stats show. Vladifan 680 Report post Posted December 10, 2009 No s***. Jackman should be dead. Morr goonz1!!!one!!!eleven! I still haven't had a chance to watch the game. Did Jackman do it to him? And does anybody think it was a clean hit? Seriously, I want to know what you (all or whoever) think(s) because right now I may not be able to watch the game soon. I think, even with the "natural goal scorer" thread, people are forgetting that Zetterberg is not a natural goal scorer, he is a playmaker. The main reason Datsyuk and Zetterberg work so well together is because neither is a pure scorer and they play the game the same way.
Shady Ultima 40 Report post Posted December 10, 2009 I think it's ironic. Our top 3 players are here, and NONE of our crappy players go down. Why couldn't it have been Lebda instead of Cleary?
uk_redwing 495 Report post Posted December 10, 2009 You have such a weak grasp on reality. You're probably one of the ones who thought leino would have a 50 point season. Feel free to explain your opinion of why my grasp on reality is so weak. And for the record I never expect Leino to have a 50 point season. Ive never been as high on him as everyone else on this site. We have far better prospects.
Echolalia 2,961 Report post Posted December 10, 2009 So who's out alltogether? Its getting hard to keep track of everyone. Franzen Filppula Williams Cleary Kronwall Lilja Geez we seriously have more than an entire line that wouldn't normally be playing that's suiting up each night. Abdelkader, May, and Meech would be in GR with May coming up once in awhile and then Miller probably wouldn't have been signed if our whole team was healthy. gcom007 1,465 Report post Posted December 10, 2009 This is tragic. It's unbelievable how many guys keep going down. And what's hilarious to me in some ways is that Bert and Homer still seem pretty healthy thus far.

Drake_Marcus 890 Report post Posted December 10, 2009 Zetterberg has been amazing this season, apart from the first few games when he was still trying to get going after the groin trouble. I'd agree with you if it weren't for his anemic goal total. He's on pace for fewer than 30 goals this season... not cool. Right now the Wings desperately need Zetterberg to score goals. Lovin Jiri Fischer 147 Report post Posted December 10, 2009 Good thing we have our AHLers Abdelkader, May and Miller to fill in...oh wait they are full-time Wings now. We might as well just leave Jimmy in the net and teach Osgood to skate. I think he would be a pretty good forward with some practice.
