The 5 best and 5 worst draft picks of the last decade

Wow, I didn't realize that Lundqvist was picked so late.

But I like that we have two players (and if we went farther back, we'd have even more with Dats and Z)

What's even more shocking is he's a late round draft pick out of Sweden and he wasn't picked by the Red Wings. What, was Hakan Andersson in the bathroom?

Good point.... Maybe he was our choice for that pick but NYR took him first cause they wanted to screw us??

Andersson has commented in interviews that he is not so hot at judging goalies.

The guy that 1st came to mind was Alexandre Daigle but then I realised the article was for the past decade so I guess hes out but if you wikipedia this guy there were rumors that Quebec wanted to trade Forsberg and Hextal for the 1st rounder that year. Wow what a trade that would have been after Daigle was a total bust and retired at 25 to pursue an acting career.

There are more top 10 busts than success stories.

What makes a strong draft class? 5 of the top ten being good? 7 of the top 10?

Look at most draft classes and picks 1-5 usually have 1 or 2 complete busts that never see NHL ice or only see a handful of games.

And on the other hand, what does Ericsson have to due to not exceed expectations. Don't get me wrong I would rather have him than say Jessiman, he is playing unreal for the last pick. But seriously, all he really needed to due was play regularly in the league. Where as a top 5 guy has to establish himself in this league!
