Ive been waiting for Detroit to call up this guy.im interested to see how he does.I wouldnt be surprised to see him go with a guy like Jim Vandermeer.I doubt he will go with Paul Bissonnette,Brad May most likely with throw with him.

I'll give Newbury this. He'll never be a heavyweight, never be a prolific goal scorer, but the guy is exciting to watch. Also, he wins most tattoo filled Red Wing by default now. I believe he has 17 tattoos. Likes the pain. I absolutely love this call-up.

I was at the Grand Rapids game this weekend, he's just a pure joy to watch. With a temper that is frightening. This happened this weekend- the guy was about 6 inches taller than Kris and 50 pounds heavier:

Hmm a temper and a little emotion. Gotta love it and its something this team really lacks.

And you also gotta love those old Shanny style shoulder pads he's wearing.

I'd like to see him up here for at least a few games.Scratch Leino once Helm gets back and give this guy a chance.and i knew those shoulder pads looked familiar!!

Why does this "airfilter" wear a visor if he's so "hardcore"... :/

Kinda sad that this call-up and our 38 year old enforcer are easily the toughest players on the team by a mile. I'm honestly starting to believe that Leino could get rocked on the boards by some of these peewees on Youtube.

Hopefully Leino will sit in the pressbox all the time when squad is getting healthy. I'm ashamed that he is a red wing, atleast zetterberg and datsyuk have balanse, can give and take a hit, leino falls flat every single time, weak.

Exactly, I'm not expecting these guys to fight, but Leino is on his knees with even the slightest bit of contact on the forecheck. I thought maybe it would improve over time...but that's not the case.

dats and z have no problem with physicality, most of our team doesn't. but leino has had a tough time with it.

Naturally a thread about Helm and Newbury would turn into a Leino bashing thread.

I think the calling up of a 27 year old journeyman is actually quite telling and in DIRECT relation to Mr. Ville Leino's ineptness as a hockey player at the NHL level.

I thought it was cause Holland hated tough guys?

He's coming around. He's seen the performance of his best players this year and he thinks that they need to play alongside a handful of guys who are willing to do anything, including take a few Bissonette punches to the beak, to spark the team. That's what he said the other day on the radio on this one station. You probably missed it.
