Swedish Ref Performs CPR on Player

The referee just happened to be a paramedic.

Yeah, I got that. I was referring to team doctors, and whether or not they would be the first point of rescue. Was it just the fact that the referee was a paramedic and was ready to roll before anyone else got out there? Or do they not have as many qualified doctors on hand?

I would assume the referee was the first one to get to him.

Wasn't a bad skill to have at the time being. Wonder if there's any other refs that have any formal medical training?

Good to see that they were capable of dealing with such an injury effectively, referee or not.

Wow! Do they not have trainers/doctors for each team in the Swedish Allsvenskan? Or was it just that the referee was plenty qualified to administer CPR and was ready to start before the trainers/doctors got out there?

And THAT is what's sensational about this story.

Regarding ref vs team doctors..

I think a paramedic has more experience with these kind of emergency situations than a team doctor so maybe he took control and made some fast decisions. Also, he was there first and just a couple of seconds might have a significance in these kind of situations.

Good story, happy to hear everything went ok. Would be just horrible if he didnt make it..

Isn't this club or whatever joining the KHL?

If they were, they blew it now. Its in KHL bylaws that you are forbidden to perform adequate life saving procedures. If you're in trouble you get a worried look and carried off in a lawn and leaf bag.
