Man games lost?

Rate this topic

Recommended Posts

With all the injuries to the team and I know other teams around the league are having issues does anyone know if there is a site that tracks man games lost per team due to injury?

Maybe even with the last few years as i'm just curious how it's stacking up to years past.

Sorry if this is posted some place else as well. I just couldn't find it on a search.

From someone at hfboards:

Injuries only (not including benches, flu, etc.)

Lilja - 33

Franzen - 30

Filppula - 22

Williams - 18

Kronwall - 12

Helm - 5

Eaves - 3

Rafalski - 3

Cleary - 3

Datsyuk - 2

Draper - 1

Ericsson - clock starts ticking now

132 games so far, but you can add 7 man games lost per game for about the next 2 weeks, when Filppula is expected to return.

Only they left off Ozzie and Maltby's flu bugs...

or do those not count to Man Games Lost

If they didn't play due to sickness, I'm sure it counts.

As mentioned at the top of that person's post: Injuries only (not including benches, flu, etc.

The man games lost tally doesn't look that impressive compared to other teams, but it's the circumstances here that make it worse. When you consider that we lost 28% of our goal scoring to FREE AGENCY (or whatever the exact figure was) before the season even began, and then you delete from that two Top 6 forwards (Cleary's injury is more recent) and one or two Top 4 defenseman (depending how you look at it), it literally feels like we're watching the Euro Twins and Lidstrom play with the Grand Rapids Griffins.

If this degree of injuries happens to the 2008-09 team (or going outside of the cap era, the 2001-02 team, haha), they would've just absorbed it and thrown in the "Black Aces". But the fact is that we were already behind the 8 ball as it was, which makes our injury situation feel all the worse. (However, it's bad all around the league, too).

Actually there are only 8 Wings starters on the team right now besides Dats Z and Lidstrom. Homer, Bertuzzi, Leino, Draper, Helm, Eaves, Rafalski, Stuart. If everyone was healthy, Lilja included, May Maltby Abdelkader Miller Lebda Meech and Janek would be sitting out (although Maltby and May might occasionally break the lineup).

I hate to give them props again, but look at the Blues last year.

They lost more man games than anyone I ever heard of, and still made the playoffs with a roster full of minor leaguers. In fact, they didn't just make the playoffs, but had the best record in the league the second half of the season.

No way the Wings B-team is worse than the Blues, right?
