In all fairness to both teams and to the Blackhawk fans, even with the Red Wings $30-million-dollar-roster, the Blackhawks are still beatable. So making excuses for our injuries isn't really fair, because had we shown up and played Red Wings hockey and showed an ounce of intensity, Wings would be walking away with 2-points and Hawks would be left with 0-points.

Nothing jumped out to me that made me think Hawks are a superior team this year, Wings just didn't show up. Call it back-2-back road games or just taking the night off, I don't know.. but Wings could have beat the Hawks last night had our boys bothered to show up.

No excuses, Wings were not the better team and it showed on the scoreboard. Congrats to the Hawks for stealing two points from us and taking 1st place. Hopefully Wings bring a better game on Wednesday.

I skimmed through a lot of this thread and a couple things in it are real laughable. I come here now and then and read. Don't usually post because I am not here to troll. But one idea repeated over and over again really just amazed me. Red Wing fan = knowledgeable and loyal. Hawks fan = bandwagon and ignorant. COME ON!!! There isn't any thing different about hockey or people in Detroit or Chicago. The difference is the professional hockey organizations. At least since expansion. I mean the one from 6 to 12 teams. (yes I remember it). If the situation was reversed and the Hawks had been winning and the Wings had been mostly losing.... you think you would be Hockey Town?

The Hawks had the misfortune to be really good when the Oilers were unbeatable. We just couldn't get past them. Other than that its been a long time since we had something to be proud of. Imagine your team so bad your stadium is half full and a division rivals fans are in your building cheering their team. That is where the "detroit sucks" chant comes from.

Has your team been better? You bet, big time. Are your fans better? Come on, people are people. If a greedy owner had given us something to cheer for and the Wings were losing it would be like going to a Lions game with the Bears in town. ( most years). Then you guys could be chanting "Chi-ca-go Sucks!"...... you have to admit "De-troit Sucks!!" rolls off the tongue a little easier.

The "Detroit Sucks" chant is kind of a compliment to us. We appriciate the efforts Chi-Hawks fans put into this all because Wings are current NHL dynasty team. It makes us happy because other teams' fans envy our success.

It gives me chills just thinking about how great Red Wings are.

This thread has turned into a worthless pissing match.

Fact is this is a depleted Detroit team that will have a hell of a time competing with the other elites until they get more healthy. The Wings offensive attack was woeful as the chances were few and far between. Part of this was attributable to the Hawks D and puck possession, while the rest can be attributed to the anemic lineup they put on the ice. Any fan on either said that can't acknowledge either of these two facts is nothign but a homer. Blackhawkdown and Miller Brew are the 2 that come to mind.

Earlier in the year the Hawk's goaltending and defense was wanting as they were way too porous. But since the first 2-3 weeks the D has been stellar most nights. The Hawks are the youngest team in the league and we're finally seeing the benefits of cohesion as they are truly playing as a unit. Guys like Kane, Hjalmarsson, and Keith are showing that they're studs, while most of the role players are doing their jobs as well. Some of the ignorant fans here like to discount (i emphasize some as most recognize this is a team to contend with) the Hawks status as legit cup contenders, but so far this team has done nothing to discredit the hype. They're a good team.

The same can be said about your Red Wings. They have shown time and time again that they are not only the best, but they are able to overcome slow starts and adversity. It really is amazing how many points you have right now considering the injuries and lackluster goaltending you get on most nights. All but the most retarded Hawk fans know that Detroit will be a force. They are also my most feared opponent as they tend to walk all over the Hawks when given any kind of room in the offensive zone. You'll be pretty scary once healthy.

As for all of this bandwagon crap BHD was right about one thing: you guys probably have the most bandwagon fans. But every Hawk fan should be wishing they had the most bandwagon fans as it illustrates one thing: you are consistently winning. When you are a Stanley Cup contender for most of the last 10-15 you're going to have a lot of folks hop on the bandwagon. Likewise when run into the ground for 10-15 years you're going to lose a lot of fans - even hardcores - as the treatment of fans and his team under Dollar Bill was enought to make a lot of people crack. Now that the Hawks are winning again their are a LOT of people hopping on board. I'm sure the attendance figures from the Dead Things era of the 80s getting into the competetive era of the 90s would show a similar ascension. Some of those are long time fans that have been reinvigorated, some are new fans that will be for life, while others are the bandwagon fans being talked about here that will be gone once the Hawks aren't the hottest thing in town. Those are just the realities of winning.

IMO pretty much all of the fans here are of the longterm variety and are extremely knowledgable about their team. A few are blatant homers, though that is to be expected on most every board. Entire fanbases shouldn't be characterized based on the idiotic few - like BHD - that go to a rival board to start s*** and be a total jackass. Guys like him aren't even worth your time.

Hopefully the Wings will be completely healthy for the last 2-3 games of the season series so that we can REALLY see how each team stack up against each other. My guess is that it will be a back and forth dogfight.

All Wings fans need is a little patience. Blackhawk fans still have to cling to hope. Winning is new to you and old hat to us. We have learned patience over the last 15 years. We have always known that we will be ok, just as we do now. What are you guys going to do when you face the REAL Red Wings?
