Of course the Hawks were without a 1st, 2nd and 4th line player for that game and the Wings were healthy but as the other poster has shown injuries only matter when they are Wings players injured.

That's the game Franzen scored on Hawks with a torn ACL, Zetterberg was nursing a pulled groin and we didn't have THE HELMster or Lilja (our best stay at home defencemen). I'd say it was pretty much a wash if you want to calculate what team was worse off.... and we still came up with a "W".

Just proves Franzen can't be stopped even on one leg. The guy is a f'cking BEAST!

One thing is for certain, 1961 :D

Let the trolls have their day. We've seen this song and dance from Sharks fans many times before--desperately trying to make a December or January game mean something--and we're seeing it from Hawks fans now. The Wings played poorly and deserved to lose, the Hawks played well enough and deserved to win. Nothing more, nothing less.

Is it just me, or would Howard likely have saved all 3 of those shots that Ozzie let in?

I doubt Howard would have stopped that first goal as it looked like it deflected off another player then in. The last two were weak.

That said, that first goal was all on the refs, since when is bumping someone's elbow with the tip of your stick a 'hooking'? If that was a hooking, then Hawks had about 63 hooking infractions that game, to the refs standards. It was a BS call.

I said in another post if Wings lose I want to see Hawks' get physically pounded. We lost and, yet, Wings decimated some Hawky p*ssies, it was a pure thing of beauty! Seeing Kane cry like a little girl made me smile. Sorry that I'm not sorry for being sadistic like that.

I'm sure Vladi, D-mac and Kocur were smiling too. :)

At least our players were able to stay in the game, and not go on the shelf for a month from these hits. You really have no room to call another teams players "p*ssys", thats hilarious.

Howard didn't exactly have a world class game last night, either. Although certainly Byfuglien's tally was not an NHL-caliber goal by any means, the other goals didn't seem any worse than Skratins's game-winner.

I didn't catch the Stars game on Saturday night, but the last few games for Howard, he has been solid. Yes that 3rd goal by Big Byf was terrible, and Howard would have had it for sure. The 2nd goal was classic Osgood, he has the weakest 5-hole in the league currently. How many similar goals have we seen already this year on Osgood?

Even though it may have tipped off of someone, Howard is very good at tracking down those point shots, and that is one he would have saved a very high percentage of the time. Sure, he would have probably given up a juicy rebound though.

From a injury standpoint, yes we really cant. From a toughness standpoint, we can. I never thought I'd see the day when the Wings dressed a line-up much physically tougher then the Hawks, I just wish to god we would've actually beaten you assholes up instead of letting you off scott free ;)

Tell Kane that Abdelkader says hi and he'll be looking forward to seeing him again on Wednesday ;)

Not many like THAT. It was a flubber where Osgood was having trouble getting into his butterfly stance. It seemed like he was fighting his old stand-up style on that one, because he never got in position to stop it.

And who knows which ones Howard could have let in that Osgood stopped. It doesn't really matter.

Really? You expect any player to play during an 82 game season with a separated shoulder? What a bunch of garbage.

Last I checked he was out for at least 4 months. No? How about Hossa playing with a bad shoulder last year during the playoffs? What a BEAST!!!By the way, when was the last time the wings had Lilja? Is he going to be the best SAD if he ever returns with his mashed potato brains? The double standards here are unbelievable.

When the wings win its because they are good, but when they lose, we blame injuries, refs, or the other team for something etc etc. Its ashamed that so many wings fans sound like Flames, Canucks, Oilers, Leafs fans etc.

Dude, half our lineup is out. It's like having you play without Toews, Hossa, Versteeg, Campbell and others but I don't know the Hawks lineup well enough. The Hawks are playing great hockey and no game against them with a healthy wings team is a sure win, but our injuries play a huge factor, it's not an excuse, just the facts.

The Blackhawks beat the Grand Rapids Griffins. This is shocking news.

If we come out of these two games with even one point, color me surprised. 8 of our 18 normal starters are out.

Injuries or no injuries you still got shut out. And yes, the fans are going to talk a little trash because of this. There is a difference in getting beat by the better, healthier team, and then getting shut out by that team. This is still the Red Wings, they still have a lot of talent on their roster that played, so getting shut out by the Hawks should be a little embarressing. Once you guys got down by 3 goals, it seems you just gave up.

Like I said, this wasnt a statement game, but to dominate you like the Hawks did is saying something, whether you want to admit it or not. You can make any excuse you want but that doesnt change the fact that you got shut out by a rival, and we earned two points in the standing and you earned none.

A lot of talent?

You obviously don't know what the Wings' current roster is made up of.

We'll put it this way: our eight best players point-wise last year were Datsyuk, Zetterberg, Hossa, Lidstrom, Rafalski, Franzen, Hudler, Kronwall.

The Hawks' eight were Havlat, Kane, Toews, Versteeg, Campbell, Ladd, Bolland, Sharp.

So of the top eight scorers on each team last year, we have three for the Wings, and eight for the Hawks. How did I get eight? Hossa.

Yep, beating the Wings like this is significant because you got points, but that's about all that it proves. It's like Wings fans claiming that since we beat you 4 games to 1 in the playoffs last year that we're the better team right now; it doesn't make sense because neither team is the same, much as the Wings aren't at full strength right now after losing a vast majority of our scoring.

You can claim that the Hawks are better at the moment, but then I'd argue that most teams are better than this current Wings team; we're playing with something like $32-38m in salary cap space, while other teams are playing with around $56m.

Haha, nothing to see here folks. This is a Hawks fan trying to avenge some built up feelings over the past few years. And by few I mean like 45+.

You shouldnt have to bring up the past to make you feel better about the future.

The only thing that matters is what is happening NOW, and now Hawks are in 1st place and Detroit is in 9th place and dropping.

See ya Wednesday.

I'm not bragging about the win as much as I am the shut-out. For all the crap we have had to hear about our goaltending from Red Wing fans its just fun to give a little back to you since we shut you out. Like I said, I am not claiming the Hawks are this powerhouse and Detroit is done, but even with the injuries a shutout is a shutout, and you should have enough talent to at least score a goal. Thats all I am saying, just having a little fun because of all the s*** talking we have heard about or goaltending.

I'm not going to lie to you, I feel pretty damn good about the future. Once guys like Zetterberg, Franzen, Kronwall, and Filppula among others get back, I will feel like this guy: :colorbounce:

The goaltending comments are legitimate. We had four guys on the team that have EVER scored above 50 points in a season tonight (one hasn't for 5 or so years); the fact that you blanked a team that has predominately fourth-line (at best) quality players is like saying "dude, my Ferrari can totally smoke that Honda Civic in a race!"

In that analogy, good NHL goalies are F1 cars; average NHL goalies are Ferraris and other supercars. An AHL team is a Honda Civic.

I mean, congrats on flexing your goaltending muscles, but blanking a Red Wings team that's crushed by injuries and bragging about it is a little... Uh... Pathetic? Sad? Puerile?

At the end of the day it really doesnt matter how many excuses you make about injuries. Simple fact is the headline reads Blackhawks - 3 Red Wings - 0. Injuries happen, you have to win dispite them, and you didnt, you got shut-out and gave a pretty piss poor effort in doing so.

I just hope you guys actually show up to play Wednesday, and actually you know, score a goal.

Oh, I definitely agree with you, don't get me wrong. To mash together two clichés: s*** happens; that's life.

But to assert that more can be concluded from this game other than the Red Wings didn't play well and the Hawks played well, and that obviously the Red Wings are at a disadvantage (possibly severe, depending on your opinion of how talent stacks up), you're coming to false conclusions based on data that isn't present.

My comments aren't all aimed precisely at you; I'm more trying to hit Blackhawk nation with the posts that I'm putting up, as I've seen some incredibly asinine assertions like "we'd dominate the Wings even if they were healthy!"

I apologize if it seemed like I was trying to rake you over the coals you for something you didn't say in the first place.

In my defense, though, Blackhawk nation is getting a little uppity for essentially kicking a dude in the nuts when he's already been shot in both legs and one of his arms.

4 stanley cups in the past 13 seasons, mmmmm you have no idea as a s***hawk fan how great of a feeling it is to proudly see your team raise hockey's ultimate prize and then get s***tered with all your buddy's for nights on end reminicing in your team's glory. Maybe at some point in your lifetime, the s***hawks might actually do something to warrant you trash talking an injury decimated Red Wing's team. Hell who am I kidding? What the hell have you guys even done the past 15 seasons? How many playoff series did you win? Haha I laugh at your joke of a franchise, Hawk fans can't say s***
