esteef 2,679 Report post Posted January 5, 2010 I'll be honest, I don't see how fighting 'enforces' other teams players to play nice. Maybe back in the 90's it served it's purpose, but I don't think fighting brings nothing more than entertainment value to the fans. Not saying that I want Leino in the line-up because he's not gritty enough in the corners nor does he hit enough... that is why I think May is in the line-up more so than 'enforcing'. Because there's been plenty of cheap shots that injured our players while May was in the line-up, his 'enforcing' presence had no factor on how the other team played. 1. Nobody has been hurt this season due to a "cheap shot". 2. Coaches don't ice teams based on "entertainment value" peace out esteef

I've had Center Ice for years smart mouth, and that trip was far from a dirty knee-on-knee as far as I'm concerned. BTW, May was not in the lineup that game. Nice try. esteef

I appreciate how you admit that you "just don't see" the things that hockey experts like Babs and I see when we watch games. When you say that May is in the lineup for more than enforcing, what role do you think he was brought in to perform? What was the stated reason given by Babs for wanting to bring May in? Please list some cheapshots that injured our players while May was in the lineup, you say there have been "plenty", this should be easy. Just do 5 or 10 for starters, ok? Clear cheapshots, on who, by who, and what the resulting injury was. Thanks.

Heroes of Hockeytown 694 Report post Posted January 5, 2010 notice he said i dont THINK this is one of those ones. passive aggressive much mike? I think (there's that word again) you'd be reading too much into it if you assumed anything like that. I doubt he calculates his words so thoroughly to what I assume was an off the cuff explanation to a beat reporter; it's just a manner of speech.

Laraque suspended five games for hit on Kronwall "The NHL said Laraque, who was assessed a minor penalty for tripping on the play, deliberately extended his knee and, through his actions, caused an injury to Kronwall." E'nuff said. Edited January 5, 2010 by Miller Brew

What else was he going to say when he knew we were weak and fragile? That's not the sort of thing you tell the press. You put on a strong facade and you bluff, just like he did. Smart guy, that Babs. His true oppinion must be that Brad May prevents cheapshots, because he stated - before May was even signed - that May in his try-out with us seemed to keep people from bullying our guys. Babs says May was brought in to detur post-whistle cheapness, I believe him. Unlike the last year, this time he has no reason to lie. Babs said May was brought in to reduce cheap shots against us. Please tell me what reason you think May was really brought in for. Thanks.

Name-calling child, did you really in the context of this thread not understand the poster you're responding to to mean "no Wings have been injured by cheap shots this year with May in the lineup"? Yes, he misspoke - but I really hope you're not such a simpleton that you couldn't see where he was going. Please, try to be a better person. Don't resport to name-calling so quickly when you could instead be reinforcing your argument. I'm still waiting for the laundry list of players that were injured this year by cheap shots that May didn't prevent. You said you had plenty. I bet there are so many that you're still working on typing the long long list. Edited January 5, 2010 by micah

That's something I need to work on in life, I need to learn how to ignore stupid people and human ignorance. I'll just have to not reply, and not allow myself to get sucked in. You're too busy calling people stupid to realize you're the stupid one for not understanding a facet of the game that's been around for years and continues to this day. Just keeping thinking everyone else is ignorant, you identify yourself easier that way. Cheers! esteef

They should trade him for cash, that way they can buy those plastic covers to put on top of the skates for everyone so we don't lose any guys blocking shots. uk_redwing 495 Report post Posted January 6, 2010 He will not be sent down as the Wings know he will be picked up on waiver. To be honest...I doubt he would. Hes too lazy and s*** to play on the top 2 lines, and most teams have grinders, defensive and hard hitting lines on the 3rd and 4th lines and he isnt that either.
