You're kidding, everyone was predicting Ozzie gets a start for the easy win

We do play Carolina next.

:siren: Chris Osgood is history in the near Redwings future...Babcock wants to write him off...after the season he will be forced to retire...that's what I think...and this is what will be...LETS GO WINGS !!!!!!!!!!! :siren:

Ozzie was garbage during last years' regular season as well, and he still found a way to turn it on once April came. He's played stellar the past 2 playoff runs and until he s***s the bed in a post-season series there's no evidence to prove he can't dial it in when that point of the year comes.

In other words, he's going nowhere......nor should he.

I see no problem with Howard getting the start.. There are no "easy wins" in this league anymore, and we still desperately need to win every single game.

Good news about Big E, that's sooner than I thought. Good to hear Franzen's rehab is moving along nicely too.. I wish Kronner doesn't get bad news though, I'm afraid he could be out for a while.

yeah when I went to the practice in LA, mule looked pretty good considering the circumstances. He by no way looked like someone who would not be able to play untill march.

i'd be happy to see ericsson back thursday. that is if he is 100% or pretty close to that. not if he feels great and good to play. i'm sure the training staff (van zant) knows this.

so also for my birthday game (feb 13) i might/hopefully see a full healthy roster..according to the website

the more Janik plays the way he has, the more I believe he will not clear waivers... If it comes to exposing him to waivers, or Lebda... I really hope the Red Wings brass sees the benefit to keeping Janik (especially since both players are UFA's at years end and Lebda will likely not be back anyway)

Janik was signed to play in GR. If he cannot go back to GR now... there's no point in losing him. He's played extremely well, and since Lebda is horrible, get rid of him.

Didn't you hear, White Men Can't Jump... Just let it go already and no, this does not mean I given up the debate. All the foolishness/nonsense is not needed in this thread, therefore I am being the mature one and ending it.

Ya... your maturity was blindingly evident when you verbally attacked him for no reason. Lol... what a clown.

Glad to see E come back. If only so he can play more and get better.

Also Jimmy will start in goal on the Island.

Kronner is getting an ultrasound tomorrow.

Finally, the mule says he is hoping to be back before the Olympic Break.

Great news on Ericsson (we won't have to watch Lebda or Meech play on the 2nd pairing and hopefully not on the PP either).

Awesome news about Mule too :)

But Kronwall's knee is really scaring me. I read an article last week that said they don't really know why it's not healing anymore... apparently the doctors said it could be that he pushed himself too early, but they weren't sure.

Way to go Laraque! I really hope Kronner's results look good.

Someone told him a few days ago he has only been watching hockey for 2 yrs...

MillerBrew claims whoever has Hossa, will go to the SCF and lose; just like the Pens did and the Wings. Well, then in theory the Wings do not have a chance to get to the SCF in what, 12 yrs due to Hossa having that long contract, unless he gets traded or retires?

If you want to follow that kind of logic, then fine, go right ahead.

I get it... but why drag the hostility from thread to thread? I prefer to keep my irrational hostility trapped to the thread in which it was born. :)

People who know Rivalred, know I am tongue n' cheek. No hostility was intended. When I am hostile, people know it...

DETROIT -- Jimmy Howard will make his ninth consecutive start in goal Tuesday for the Detroit Red Wings when they visit the New York Islanders.

Some injury updates:

• Defenseman Jonathan Ericsson (bone bruise in knee on Dec. 14) said he is hoping to return for Thursday's game against Carolina, but that isn't definite.

• Defenseman Niklas Kronwall (sprained MCL on Nov. 21) will have an ultrasound on Tuesday, after which hopes to learn more about why his knee is still bothering him. He hasn't skated since Dec. 20.

• Forward Tomas Holmstrom (hairline fracture in foot on Jan. 6) said he is targeting Jan. 26 vs. Phoenix or the following night in Minnesota for his return.

• Forward Johan Franzen (torn ACL on Oct. 8), who has been practicing with the team for several days, said he continues to feel better. He said he's not sure when he will return but believes it could be before the Olympic break, which starts on Feb. 15.

The lines and defense pairings remained the same in practice:

Bertuzzi-Datsyuk-Zetterberg

Cleary-Filppula-Miller

Draper-Helm-Eaves

May-Abdelkader-Maltby (Leino working in)

Lidstrom-Rafalski

Meech-Stuart

Lebda-Janik

Ericsson-Lilja (out)

Howard (starting)

Osgood
