I don't know why you bring up hits to the head because this was just boarding. Very nasty hit and definitely could have been avoided. I would have given him 5 games.

I think 2 games is sufficient. I was more bad judgment than a dirty play. If Dupuis was closer to the boards, it would have been a normally check into the boards. Players get hit from behind into the boards all the time, which is normally fine, unless they are in that dangerous distance from the boards.

If Dupuis had of gone unhurt, he probably would have simply gotten 2 minutes for boarding and there would be no suspension, but since there was an injury and Sutton has a past suspension, he got 2 games.

Yikes. To be fair to Sutton it seemed to me that Dupuis was going to skate with it instead of stopping dead with his back to the play but it shouldn't be an excuse. I think the suspension is fine it didn't seem there was much intent to injure Dupuis but still punishable.

I think he was calling the penalty, he started to raise his arm, but then rather than standing there with his arm in the air, he thought the best thing to do would be to check on the player's well being.

Oh wow, Ouch. Bad play by sutton but in his defense I don't think he purposely put his face to the boards like that. I don't think he realized how much room was between dupuis and the boards. Still....he did the crime, he's gotta do the time.

i owuld have given him 5 min, ejection a game supspention because it was partially suttons fault, dupuis put himself in a bad position, they are both friends and you could tell sutton was immediately concerned, i don't think it was very intentional

Though I generally regard the Pittsburgh announcers dumb as s*** - the first thing I thought of was the Draper hit, though obviously to a much lesser degree. I think they could have easily given him 3-5 for it. Even in arguing that it wasn't entirely intentional, it's still a matter of insuring against these sort of things.
