-because Franzen and Lilja are what will solve our problem...

I'm just saying I think something "Big" may be needed here, not that Lilja and Mule aren't huge because they are!

they will help for sure, lets just have everyone get back and healthy and they will be fine

you're right, because he didn't play a 3rd/4th line center role his entire first go around here, or center his entire junior career growing up...

oh wait...

He's still played wing all season. Babcock obviously wants to keep him on the wing as we have seen guys like Miller playing center over him.

And even if he has played in 3rd/4th line before, doesn't mean he's "3rd line center type". He's an offensive player. His weaknesses are in defensive play. Hardly a good 3rd line center IMO.

He was a career +19 player his first go around here and centered the 3rd/4th lines... and even killed penalties at times back then... he is a strong back checker and has good wheels... he can score goals as well, but is a secondary scorer, not a number 1 scoring threat and never has been at the NHL level... I'm going to have to strongly disagree with your assessment...

the reason Miller is playing center over him, is because you don't come back from a broken leg and just crank up the speed... centers need to be not only one of the fastest players on the ice/able to cover the most area, but also need to have the most endurance...

The reason Miller is playing center is because Babcock wants him play center in the future too. He said it in an interview in some article (mlive possibly).

I still think Williams is an offensive player, he just hadn't be good enough to play in top6, but he's that kinda guy anyway. I just don't agree with that "strong back checker" thing...

I can't find a single article claiming that Babs is playing him at center because he wants him to play center in the future... show me a source and then I'll believe it's for ANY other reason than Williams not being conditioned enough yet since his return...

I checked it and it was actually a misread by me. Here's the thread: http://www.letsgowings.com/forums/index.ph...62868&st=20

"He said he'll start out using Miller at center." "Start out using", while I thought he mean that he "will start using".

I'm happy that it was a misread (or my language problems), because I certainly don't want to see Miller playing center.

yea... he's much more effective as a winger...

Don't get me wrong either, I think there would be definite upgrades to Williams for the 3rd line center and if we could get a 1 for 1 swap for someone else and move Williams in the deal, I'd be all for it... I just don't see us moving him and I don't see any other moves making it worthwhile...

I can guarantee his French, German, Spanish, Chinese, Japanese, etc... are better than my Finnish, haha

I always have much respect for people who are multilingual and can actually carry on cognizant conversations in the languages

On paper, we have one of the best top 6 forward groups in the NHL, even this last month or so with Franzen out.

Those guys just can't put it together on the ice consistently. How often has our top 6 played well together this season.

Maybe Holland does need to make some move to inject some life into this team or to find some chemistry somewhere. Then again, the defense will probably start sucking as our forward groups start playing well.

There's just too many things wrong right now to point it specifically at one place and say, "this is the root of all our problems"

is Babcock using a new mousse in his hair?

maybe that's the root of it all...

ive seen alot of people say Lucic and afinogenov, how realistic are these? I know Afinogenov isnt making that much this year, but would his current team want to give him up? are they doing a fire sale after Kovie? or just wishful thikning by alot of wings fans? Also, i thought Lucic was loved in Bean town, and i didnt even think he was an option out there, but im in love with this kids style of play. Have been since he came into the league. Any truth to either of these?

We have NO F'N CAP ROOM!!!!! We are trying to dump salary to get under the cap. You guys keep starting your threads thinking that Holland will trade Fils or Stu but he won't. Which is why he is a NHL GM and you people thankfully are not.

Good point there.

Switch to decaf. We understand that cap room is slim.

No you people don't because if you did stupid threads like these would stop popping up everyday.

Steve Krause help me fight the good fight lol

Sooo you are saying a fan hockey forum isn'tsupposed to talk about trading possibilities?

I think your new to this thing. It's just speculation, not like it's a completely irrelevant topic about a trained sloth that's able to fly a fighter jet.

It is pretty irrelevant, as it is not going to happen.

Just like how Hossa was not going to happen.

Or that there is no way Leino could be traded?

Or that there is no way Jimmy Howard could be a starter?

Or that there is no way the Wings could miss the playoffs?

Come on, pretty much anything about hockey is relevant.

Zetterberg-Datsyuk-Holmstrom

Franzen-Filppula-Bertuzzi

Oh, wait... we already have everyone! Time to get that 3rd line center...

What are you talking about? You've got to be the only person I've ever heard call for the WIngs to get a third line center. We need a scoring winger more than anything else. We have all the role players we need. Whether or not it's possible, the only sensible move would be to acquire a proven top 6 scoring threat. Again, not saying it's necessarily possible, but there won't be a move for a role player. We're already stacked in that department.

A lot of people don't really take the cap and/or team chemistry into account when playing with trade ideas... I've given up on really trying to argue these posts, because most of the trade ideas are completely unreasonable

I want a healthy, at least 80% Franzen - that's it...

I also don't think we need a 3rd line center, Williams was a center first already and once he gets more conditioning back from the injury, I'm sure he'll be moved back there...

I think with everyone healthy, if Lils is good to go and Kronwall doesn't have any setbacks, we're set...

Franzen-Zetterberg-Holmstrom

Filppula-Datsyuk-Bertuzzi

Miller-Williams-Cleary

Draper-Helm-Eaves

Maltby

May

Lidstrom-Rafalski

Stuart-Kronwall

Ericsson-Lilja

Meech

Howard

Osgood

looks pretty damn good to me

I think having Franzen and Zetterberg in a team is enough for top6 scoring.

We don't need anyone for the top 6. Third line center? Yes.

Don Cherry, is that you?

I would say our 3rd line center can be Williams split up Zetterberg and Datsyuk. Pretty much what stevkrause said in his forward lines but with Versteeg in for Filppula. Hell you can even put him on the 3rd line for even more depth with Williams. I think another guy who has the shoot first mind set would be better for us at this time.

Franzen-Zetterberg-Holmstrom

Cleary-Datsyuk-Bertuzzi

Miller-Williams-Versteeg

Draper-Helm-Eaves

Lidstrom-Ericsson

Rafalski-Kronwall

Stuart-Lilja
