Meech on the PP?

Why does Babcock insist on putting Meech on the power play instead of Stuart? Stuart (in my opinion) has a great shot, and would do much better. I know Kronwall would be there if he wasn't injured, but I'd say Stuart is a way better replacement...

I actually think Meech has done a decent job moving the puck on the powerplay. Sure he's not the best, but i think he's doing fine. The powerplay isn't all about shooting. Who knows, maybe he's outplaying Stuart in practice when it comes to the powerplay.

With the sheer amount of time that Stuart is on the ice in every other situation, isn't it fair to give the guy a break every now and then? He already plays a lot of minutes per game. Sometimes you just need a chance to breathe- even if for 2 minutes.

Stuart was the only guy on the team even less effective than Meech or Lebda on the PP.

Ericsson's shot is what we need. Just give the man a chance to use his 100mph slapper. It's not like there's anything left to lose. We're relying on other teams to lose their playoff spot at this point.

Meech on the PP makes me wonder if he won't be traded. Does Babs see something there or are they just stuck for somebody? Perhaps they are trying to show other teams that Meech has PP potential.

I hope that they're more interested in actually winning games than marginally improving a crappy player's trade value. I'd rather score a few more pp goals and maybe as a result get a couple of extra points. To me, that's more valuable than the difference between a sixth round draft pick and a fifth round draft pick.

True, but Ericcson's play has been much left to be desired lately, although that has more to do with defensive goof-ups/turnovers than offensive stuff/PPs.

Because the guy can't play 30 minutes a night.... he's already on the PK and seeing big minutes otherwise... we REALLY need Lilja and moreso, Kronwall, back so we can go:

PP1

Lidstrom-Rafalski

PP2

Kronwall-Williams

PK1

Stuart-Kronwall

PK2

Ericsson-Lilja

Single most overrated thing in hockey.

I was so unimpressed with Rafalski on the point last night. I dont think I could see ONE single shot of his make it through to the net. It was so frustrating to watch.

Also I do think that Meech is a better on the PP than Stuart ( he needs to rest when we are on the PP), but would like to see Ericsson get an oppurtunity back there because I have seen many of his shots from the blue line (mostly wrist shots) in the last couple months somehow get to the net, so he seems to know how to place them unlike Rafalski lately, who seems to just be forcing it.

I dunno...just my opinion...

Because Stuart is already logging big minutes at even strength and killing penalties. He's been looking terrible lately, he needs less minutes not more.

Ericsson would look good on the PP IMO, but it would be stupid to reward him with PP time when he needs to get his defensive game in order.

Stuart has been looking rubbish lately. Too many minutes is probably the factor. With Ericsson turning the puck over left and right in our defensive zone, I don't see the point either of putting him on the PP. Meech on the otherhand has looked good to say the least on the PP. He's played well when he is playing on the PP or 5 on 5. Thinking about back to that last San Jose game we won. Meech played pretty great. Probably impressing the coaches and more so Babs in particular.
