If he'd be risking his career by playing then yes. But I'm not a doctor so I don't know, maybe he'll be fine as long as he has that knee brace.

Exactly that, because that brace as you pointed out basically replace that inbalanced inside ligament in a excellent way, no need to worry. The real ligament will heal steady but slowly in the meantime.

Filppula out tonight with a tender groin.

DETROIT -- Update from the Detroit Red Wings' morning skate Saturday:

Center Valtteri Filppula will sit out tonight's game against Ottawa due to a sore groin. Filppula said it flared up on him in Thursday's game in San Jose. He is hoping to be ready for Finland's first game at the Olympics on Tuesday.

"I'm concerned,'' Filppula said. "I definitely want to play (in the Olympics). I want to play tonight, too, but we'll have to see how it is. It's much better today than it was yesterday.''

Happy Birthday!

my birthday is tomorrow (14th feb) and this game starts at midnight here so technically this will start on my birthday :D

What's with this outbreak of birthdays around here? :shocking:

PLEASE. Have a happy one, both of ya's, which should OF COURSE, include a win by our beloved Wings.

I really think the players that are in a funk are just too concerned about the Olympics. In all the interviews they always talk about how excited they are for the Olympics and mention the Red Wings as almost an afterthought.

I think once the Olympics are out of the way they'll get back to being focused. That's the only explanation I can think of to explain this bizarre season. And most of the players struggling are Olympians. Maybe it just got in their heads.

So high possibility that they will come out really flat in this one with their mind at the olympics?

Damn.... I just spent the last hour trying to crop Lilja's face onto the "I Choo Choo Choose You" Simpsons Valentines Day card and then I come here to find he's not playing... Ah well, I didn't get anything worth using, but I can't wait for Lilja to get back!

LOL. I'd love to see that Pain Train card.

I think the Wings get a win. As depressing as the shootout was last game, we did play pretty damn well, created a ton of chances. So I reckon we convert a few more today.

4-2 Wings.

Bert, Lids, Mule and Z

Guest Howard He Do It?!

Kronwall's back! Great news, but now we lose Flip. The lines in tonight's game are going to be interesting.

I don't understand why we brought up Lilja if he's not playing today and he could have gotten in an extra game in Grand Rapids!

Also, do you think Flip would play tonight if the Olympics weren't around the corner?

Anyways, go Wings, let's start the Olympic break on a positive note!

I hope Babcock uses his horses big time tonight. This is probabaly a wrong way to look at it, but why not use them for huge minutes tonight? You need the 2 points....badly. Plus their energy level is not his problem for the next 2 weeks. Especially with no Filppula. Split Pav and Z up and let them log minutes. Big minutes.

Lets hope they come out and play like they did in SJ, only with the result they deserve. These are MUST WIN games imo.
