Brandon Dubinsky calling Sidney Crosby a little baby

You really don't see why people dislike Crosby so much?

Ovechkin may do dirty stuff sometimes, Thornton may get chippy at times as well when things don't go his way, but it is much easier to dislike a person with an attitude problem when he acts like a 10 year old. Neither of those other guys, to me, have attitude problems where they either intentionally act like blatant a'holes all the time or act like a little child.

Do others act like a 10 year old as well, at least once in their life? In all likelihood yes. But Crosby has the magnifiying glass on him, fair or not. And when he acts like a little child as well as getting so much attention, both fair/deserved and unnecessary over-the-top attention from media, it's going to make people dislike him more than others.

It's not that hard to figure out. Some of you need to quit trying to make others feel wrong from disliking him more than others or that we are jealous of him in some way. We are not. We get that he is a great player. We just don't like the over-the-top-coverage about him and the whining/moan factor that media seems to just brush off like it's no big deal.

It's much easier to dislike a guy who either acts like a little baby or a blatant jerk most the time on purpose vs. somebody who might play hard on the ice/playing surface or maybe throw a questionable hit sometimes. At least for myself. Sean Avery is another example with the questiable attitude aspect. He does his role fairly well but plenty don't like him, at least from posts in here (while some do obviously). You can only take his attitude and drama queen attention stuff for so long at times (at least in the recent past).

I'm not sure how Thornton has gotten dragged into this..he has never had any notable incidents behavior-wise (at least to my knowledge)

The biggest problem I have is that people take a slash here or there (what hockey player doesn't now and then) and complaining to the ref and turn those on-ice actions into some sort of thesis of how Crosby is such a bad guy off of the ice. As far as the on-ice actions go and comparable to our "innocent" Wings both of past and present I will just defer to Gordie Sid & Ted's post because he nailed it on the head. You mentioned Shawn Avery who has a remarkable pattern of ******* remarks and behavior including the "sloppy seconds" comment and calling one of the greatest goaltenders of all time "fatso". Ovechkin has been brought up by others as well in this thread and the dirty hits and suspension nonwithstanding, I wouldn't term this type of behavior classy either: http://voices.washingtonpost.com/capitalsi...hes-malkin.html

Crosby has not once done one thing off of the ice that comes close to the blatantly disrespectful and assholish behavior as these two guys so it is foolish to imply he's such a bad character off of the ice and to even think to lump him in with players who have done heinous things such as this.

...I'm a Red Wings fan too but the only difference between us is that i can admit that my team CHOKED when they had an oppurtunity to win another Cup and you can't; end of story.

Oh well I just couldn't let this one go. Choked? Seriously? Losing by one goal is choking? Right. Ok, so if the Wings "choked".......that means the Pens weren't that good, we were just that bad.

Well we didnt play our greatest game when it mattered the most. Stuart had a OK game at best and Ozzie let it a weak goal.

Didn't Crosby throw his teammates under the bus his rookie year in the press?

I'm an avid hockey fan and that doesn't ring a bell to me so if that is true it obviously wasn't a big deal as not only did it fail to make headlines but he also was named team captain after his rookie year.....

Well when you have a great team like the Wings had last year, are playing an opponent that you beat in the Finals the previous year, only to watch their roster get weaker and yours get stronger (Hossa factor), have a 3-2 lead in a series, are the favorite to win, AND have game 7 on home ice and fail to succeed?....yes that is absolutely choking.

The Wings had a 2-0 lead in the series and pissed it away (in fact they choked on the powerplay when Jordan Staal scored that breakaway goal on Osgood).

Then they had a 3-2 lead and pissed that away as well.

That is choking in a nutshell.

I see the forums have no shortage of douchers joining up.

I suggest you get some perspective zachy boy.

Yeah, why would anyone want their kid to be like Sidney Crosby.

"well son, I would like you to be like Sidney Crosby but you see, being one of the top players in your sport, making millions of dollars, winning individual awards, winning the big one before you can even buy a beer and all the while doing a fairly good job of being as humble as possible whenever you are off the ice as well as a player who, through the media machine has started to transcend hockey to where fans of other sports know who he is and how good he is, well.........all that s*** is crazy. I would much rather you not be anything like Sidney Crosby". Congrats on getting hired at McDonald's my boy."

And talk about hypocrisy. You ***** about the guy bringing up the actions of other players yet you tout the great and unwavering classiness of the Wings. "they don't have those players" I believe is what you said.

OK. What was that about you being 10 years old? Is that your current age?

Bertuzzi

McCarty

Probert

Maltby (for every "cheap" thing Crosby has ever done, Malts has probably dove & embellished 10-15 times more).

Ciccarelli (I love Dino but he's not exactly the best role model)

The amount of vitriol that gets spewed at Crosby for the teeny, tiniest of infractions is more of a commentary on the inadequacies, insecurities, jealousies and lack of overall gray matter of the persons doing the spewing. Oh my, Crosby love tapped Dubinsky (who I think is a great player, good old American boy)....and in other breaking news, hockey players discover that their sticks can be used to whack other opponents and the **** have bombed Pearl Harbor.

I missed you, Gordie.

 Oh boy, here we go. I'm a doucher because I pointed out how your post made no sense? Right on bud.

And you're telling me to get a better perspective? Are you ******* high?!

One, way to take everything positive about Crosby and act like it's all their is to him. Two, he doesn't transcend hockey. That's Ovechkin you're thinking of.

There are many other millionaires in this league and in sports and many of them make more than little Sid. They also don't have to be immature whiny assholes.

Again, just because he's not doing something worse somehow makes him completely OK in your eyes. Next time I smack someone and get hauled downtown on assault charges, I'll tell them "hey, doucher, at least I didn't kill them". When I get out I'll tell you how it turned out.

I don't see a Probert playing here anymore. I don't see Bertuzzi doing what he did in Vancouver here. Or did you miss that part? The concept of a debate smart guy, is to counter what someone else says. I shot down the Bertuzzi bulls*** and you just puked it up again. And McCarty? Are you f***in kidding? Gtf outta here, McCarty fights like a man, doesn't whine to the media. Come back when you're ready to converse like men. You're stretching more than Mr. f***in Fantastic just to argue pointlessly. I guess every board has their attention *****.

Once again, and I dunno if you just missed this part or were too lazy to read it, but it's not any one single action. It's his collective attitude since day one. This is not difficult to understand.

Excuse me while I vomit all over my keyboard.

I think you've played the "I watch hockey alot" card enough that it's falling apart. You just can't start every sentence with "well I watch alot of hockey and I ______" to add credibility to your response. Crosby has thrown teammates under the bus, subtly and sometims not so much. He isn't humble, he completely downplays things he doesn't like.

It figures you and Doc would get along great.

Even though it was Lemieux he laid out in that great game, he did cold cock him and he did knee him in the head after Lemieux was down.

That still leaves a bad taste in my mouth.

Not me. Claudia was a piece of s*** and deserved it. I especially liked it when Mac dragged his bloody ass over to the Wings bench. I've often wondered if he made Claudette apologize to Drapes......

But if Crosby did those same moves to say Ovie as retribution for Ovie's cheap hit that hurt Gonchar's knee last playoffs this site would be littered with moron's screaming that it validated Crosby as a dirty player

Monday Night Football. 4th Qtr. Skins game. What are they talking about?

Ovechkin. They're talking about him, not as a 5 second blip, but during an entire drive. They talked about how many Ovechkin jerseys they've seen around the DC area and how he's changed everything.

PTI. A show that not only mocks hockey but admittedly has no clue about it. Who are they talking about?

Ovechkin. At least twice from what I've seen and I watch that show maybe once every two months. They loved him.

Hell, there was that NBA player who mentioned that he tunes in just to see Ovechkin. I can't recall his name. Or this...

"IMG Worldwide, one of the most powerful sports and entertainment marketing agencies on the planet, believes its newest client Alex Ovechkin's(notes) celebrity has transcended the sport of hockey.

"Correct," said David Abrutyn, IMG's senior vice president and managing director of global consulting. "We believe that given the performance on the ice, and given his personality and general demeanor, that he's really broken through. There are going to be some significant opportunities from a marketing standpoint to raise his profile to that of other superstars in other sports."

The man has the skills, but more importantly, has the personality and on-ice charisma that hockey desperately needs. The NHL foolishly hasn't even made him the face of the sport and he's still attracting otherwise uninterested parties. He has the potential to be a Kobe, Lebron, Manning, Montana, Jeter, etc. He's pure marketing gold, but the league just won't go back on their blind devotion to the Crosby marketing machine.

It had to be obvious that when Sidney Crosby appeared in a thread title, this thing was going to go on for a long, long time.

The bottom line is very simple:

1. Crosby is really good.

2. Crosby has whined and sometimes still does. It bugs some people more than others.

3. He robbed us of a Stanley Cup. Therefore, nobody here likes him (or nobody should).

...except for this two week period.

But after THAT, nobody likes him.

I don't even like him when he's representing my country. I'm more embarrassed than anything else. I am generally pretty ashamed of Canadian hockey overall as I think our attitude and mindset are arrogant, narrow minded and brutish. I think we could learn a thing or two from foreign countries. Such as humility and sportsmanship. I hate Crosby but I'll give him one thing, at least he's not the sole focus for this two week span.

Yeah, I know even some people who normally support Canada either won't because of him, or will, but are still going to hope that he sucks or whatever. I'd have to completely disagree with your analysis of Canadian hockey, but there's no way to argue it here without completely derailing the thread. There's already enough Olympic threads.

I for one, am going to look past the Crosby hate for the Olympics. He already stole a cup from me, I won't let him steal my enjoyment of my team at the Olympics. And if he helps to bring Canada a gold, in my eyes he'll be slightly redeemed for his other faults.

The Skins were horrific this year and a pain to watch and they play in Washington so it's no surprise that they would take about the only legit sports star that the city has which also explains the sale of the jerseys..there simply isn't any other star power in any sport in the DC area, the next closest thing to Ovie in DC is a guy who pulled a gun on a teammate (Gilbert Arenas) who would want the jersey of a thug??..likewise PTI is a show about guys who as you said, know nothing about hockey they're just journalists for.....the Washington Post so whenever hockey comes up of course the extent of their small hockey knowledge is going to be limited mostly to the star in their town so who do you think they're going to talk about? As far as IMG saying that he transcends hockey, of course they're gonna say that..they didn't become a large sports marketing firm without knowing how to pump up their own clients...that would be like the mayor of Cole Harbour, Nova Scotia (Crosby's hometown) saying something outrageous like Crosby is Canada's greatest natural resource, it's a complement of the highest regard sure, but when you consider the overly biased source it's obviously not an objective opinion and therefore doesn't hold very much weight.

Yeah?

Then howcome no Red Wings are mentioned during Lions games? The Lions are everything you just described and worse, and the Wings are bigger than the Caps. Not a single hockey player from the California area is mentioned during Raider games. When Chicago is playing a nationally televised game, you don't hear jack about any Hawks and they're the flavor of the month. You also have to take into account, this was MNF. They don't like to do much that they consider a waste of air time.

He quite clearly as I explained transcends hockey. You can argue all you want because you see it as a competition now but he just does, like him or not. You're not telling me how he doesn't, you're just making excuses for why he clearly does.

likewise PTI is a show about guys who as you said, know nothing about hockey they're just journalists for.....the Washington Post so whenever hockey comes up of course the extent of their small hockey knowledge is going to be limited mostly to the star in their town so who do you think they're going to talk about?

PTI doesn't talk about hockey. Unless it's a crazy play, or Ovechkin doing something really cool. Everytime he does he's on there. Is that not the definition of transcending hockey? Are you really going to sit here and play devil's advocate and try to downplay every single thing I said? Then explain to me why no other Caps were mentioned before him? They've had great plays and players.

I saw this reply coming a mile away. You have it backwards.

They're not hyping him up because they signed him, they signed him because he has hype around him. These people don't just take gambles and hope to hell he turns out, especially when they haven't had any other hockey players signed in years.

I don't say this in these words very often, but you're just completely wrong. You're arguing nonsensical points and are just flat out wrong.
