Wow, this is actually the only roster I've seen where I really don't like the lines.

I mean, I love Sweden's roster itself, and they've got crazy skill. Somehow they managed to screw up the lines though imo.

Enstrom on the first pairing? That guy is as soft as a marshmallow! With the forechecking I saw from Canada and the U.S. he wont last a period against them.

Which is why he's paired with Öhlund. Not really crazy about those two as the top pairing but most likely BÅG will try to roll 3 offensive lines. Depending on how fit and ready Forsberg and Franzén are I'm guessing they'll switch some of the placements around.

I hope BAG knows what hes doing because Im cheering for Sweden to medal. I think Enstrom would be much better served on the second or third pairing normally and maybe on the Second PP unit. He may be soft but he sure can pass.

Think Rafalski. But softer.

I was actually pleasantly surprised.. we'll see how it works out but I have a good feeling about these lines.

Sweden will also start with 4 five man units and will rest none, everyone will play and there will be no special pp/pk units they will just roll around the first games to see which ones got chemistry and plays better.. etc... typical swedish thinking here.

22) Daniel Sedin– 20) Henrik Sedin – 80) Mattias Weinhandl

2) Mattias Öhlund – 39) Tobias Enström

21) Peter Forsberg – 40) Henrik Zetterberg – 27) Patrik Hörnqvist

5) Nicklas Lidström – 55) Nicklas Kronwall

91) Loui Eriksson – 19) Nicklas Bäckström – 11) Daniel Alfredsson

10) Henrik Tallinder – 6) Magnus Johansson

93) Johan Franzén – 26) Samuel Påhlsson – 33) Fredrik Modin

3) Douglas Murray – 29) Johnny Oduya

Goalies:

30) Henrik Lundqvist 1) Stefan Liv 50) Jonas Gustavsson

That is a defending Gold Medalist roster right there.

I don't get it - both Nicklas'es a second D pairing?

It's not the NHL you need to understand, the 1st pair dont necessarily get most minutes of icetime etc... if you're on the third or first line dont matter either.

To be honest that's almost more typical Russian thinking. They're the ones who started with the 5-man units and they're doing the same thing in this Olympics.

It doesn't have to be a bad thing, looking at those lines all of them except the 4th line look like really good PP lines. Forsberg-Zetterberg-Hornqvist-Lidstrom-Kronwall? How would you change that to make it better for the PP?

Well I still think the first three lines should get more ice time than the fourth (move up franzen switch with eriksson)

and then play more oduya&murray against tougher teams and play them less against germany etc...

Why isn't Franzen playing with the Sedin twinks?

He's better than Weinhandl. That doesn't look like a very scary first line to me.

Get the team more even I assume...

Maybe a better question is, what's he doing on the bottom line with the weakest offensive players on the team, instead of, say, with his linemate in Detroit?

To fool other teams into thinking "oh here comes the s***ty 4th line.." and then Mule scores a hat-trick before they realize what happened.

I think that the Mule is on the fourth line because Gustafsson is for the moment watching his ice time (it seemed apparent in the game against Germany). I'm sure that he'll get more ice time as the tournament progresses.

Murray was fun to watch as usual, Germans were bouncing off of him as they tried to hit him.

Magnus Johansson played as expected - soft, unable to handle the German players in his own zone etc (but decent offensively). I have no idea why Gustafsson chose him - if he wanted a SEL defenseman, he should at least have taken a bigger one. He won't be able to handle any of Canada or USA's players...
