i think there is qualifications, i heard during the russia vs latvia game that latvia earned their spot by winning something, and i was also looking forward to seeing latvia vs kazakhstan ( a made up rivalry by me and my brother in law in nhl 2k5), they played last olympics but kazakhstan didnt make it this year.

Ok, I would guess the countries that need to win their spot has no NHL players on their teams or something like that.

I agree the Statsny line needs to be broken, not much going on when they're out there.

US killing a penalty....Norway has yet to really possess the puck in their offensive zone....Switzerland is gonna beat them too.

Sorry to say, but some of these countries like Norway shouldn't even play Olympic Hockey against powerhouses like Canada, Sweden, Russia, USA, Finland, and Czech Republic.

Do they even have a Olympic qualification tournament in Europe? Or can any country play? I can't imagine the Norway, Latvia, Germany, and Belarus players enjoy being beat every game, and most of the time very badly.

They should limit the teams to the top 8, and have the Swiss, Norway, Latvia, Germany, Belarus, and Slovakia play for the last 2 spots before the Olympics. I personally wouldn't mind seeing Canada, Sweden, Russia, USA, Finland, and Czech Republic play each other more.

But that's just me I guess.

Womens Hockey is even worse...

I think Germany, Switzerland, Belarus and Denmark have the potential to be better in the future and cause upsets. And of couse even smaller countries can play good with good coaching.

I wouldn't reduce the amount of teams. It's just one part of the Olympics that you see athletics that are better than others.

This isn't nearly as bad as in women's hockey.

I must admit, despite being down 3-0, Norway has played decent. This game could easily be 3-2 USA, Miller has had to come up big a few times.
